It should be a great day for it including Williamson Brothers BBQ at the finish!

It started and ended at Oglethorpe Univ. It went through neighborhoods mostly up to Blackburn Park and back. It was a nice course and a great morning for a run but nary a flat spot on that bad boy. The few miles on Peachtree were the only sections of flat(ish). Most of the hills were bearable but there were a lot of them.

I thought the race was done very well for the first year. Plenty of bands along the route (which is their gimic), well stocked aid stations, enough porta pottys, volunteers and traffic control. I heard they had about 3000 runners which was a nice number. Big enough but not huge. Parking may have been an issue but we got there early. BBQ sandwich for you at the end but I wasn't thinking BBQ at 9:30 after 13 miles.

The neighborhood back by Capitol City Golf Course was really nice if you like to look at golf course like I do.

If it matters to you, we got a huge Flava Flav medal. The "dot" in 13.1 spins . & I'm not a big fan of the T-shirt. Most people must have disagreed as I've never seen so many people wear the race shirt in the race as today. Bad karma in my book but diff'rent strokes and all.

Bottom line: I'd definitely recommend the race.

Great course, would definitely do this one again.  I like running through neighborhoods with million dollar homes, and there were plenty.  Not much flat, lots of rollers, very organized with plenty of water stops, volunteers, etc.  And the weather was perfect today too.

And I agree, I have never seen so many people wearing the race shirt at a race.  I didn't and almost felt out of place.

Great Course but VERY HILLY! - not the long drawn out hills that kinda suck but the short unexpected monster grades (up and down hill) that often come out of no where following a turn - they really grind on the HR and the legs.

Overall, I was very impressed with it for a first year production and looking at houses in the neighborhoods is much nicer than the commercial 5 lane you stare out for all of the ATC thanksgiving day 13.1 / 26.2.

Only complaint is ... starting chute was on campus and only one lane wide so the bottle necking was pretty bad.  I got there late and had to lign up in the 2:30 corral so there was about 2,000 people in front of me.  There was a U-turn about 200 yards into the course.  After I crossed the start mat and started jogging, I immediately came to a 45 second standstill while the human funnel sorted itself through the U-turn.  It was a sucky start to an otherwise great race.

Sorry if I trampled any of you in the first 3 miles haha

x2 on the hills and the clusterfack start. I would think that will be corrected next year. I bet I will feel that tomorrow in my quads.

What a lovely day though. I ran 3 more after and it was still cool out! Wifey is no longer a virgin either....

My training partner and I did the race with 8 HM virgins today.  They did AWESOME.  I used to work at the fire station in that area so I knew it would be a hilly course but nothing anyone that trains in the N. Georgia area couldn't handle.

Very organized for a first year event with a cluster at the start and what's up with the UPHILL finish???  Maybe next year, add a little to a couple of spots out on the course and have you finish coming back into the college on the downhill intstead of a 300 yd. uphill surge to the line.

Congrats to all that races.

Steve
