Total Time = 1h 28m 31s
Overall Rank = 406/831
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 13/53
Pre-race routine:

got to the lake at 5:30 when it opened chilly. Ran around and chatted with all my friends and team mates it was fun. Ended up at the porta-potties 3x..really!
Event warmup:

none
Swim
  • 08m 57s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

was super cold before i got in but the course was short and the water still and it was suprising clear warmer in the water than outside. Less than 100m in my googles were knocked off but i got them back on within 20sec so on to swimming. It was crowded and crazy but just for the first 200m then it spaced out. overall the easier, calmest swim of the season.
What would you do differently?:

swim more to the right
Transition 1
  • 03m 11s
Comments:

this was my longest transition for two reasons 1: out of the water was a HUGE hill and since I'm fighting bronchitis I literally couldn't breath when i got to the top. I will admit I had a moment of panic/tears and a teamate told me to pull it together because I may have sat downed and cryed my chest hurt so bad.
What would you do differently?:

not be sick..positive i ran the whole hill up
Bike
  • 43m 35s
  • 13 miles
  • 17.90 mile/hr
Comments:

so usually my strength turned out to be my weakness today. 1st off the smartest thing i did was wear a jacket and it cut the wind down big time. I honestly wouldn't have made it otherwise. The ride was not difficlut but because of my breathing it was excrusiating. I couldn't breath out of my nose so I had to open my mouth and i could literally feel the wind in my lungs and earrings it was very painful. At one point i pulled back b/c i could taste blood. yuck. so i think if I hadn't been sick it would have been a decent ride.
What would you do differently?:

my goal was 19 so at 17.8 wasn't terrible
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

long transition through the bikes to rack and jump off..weird it didn't feel that long
What would you do differently?:

move faster
Run
  • 31m 27s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

so as we know my run is less then stellar due to the stress fractures but i am happy to report that i ran the whole course, no walking and it wasn't too terrible. Ran side by side with a guy for awhile and it encouraged me to run a hair faster. It's kinda weird but when i run looking down it seems to move faster and if i don't look at the hills, it passes faster and less painful. great course for runners
What would you do differently?:

nothing
i sprinted to the finish..ouch but worth it
Post race
Warm down:

breakfast

What limited your ability to perform faster:

COLD, COLD, COLD and my stupid lungs and foot.

Event comments:

while it was a good course due to the time of year and weather I don't think I'll do this one again.
