Just talked with Sherri and both Tom and Tony are off the bike.  Tom is on his 5th lap (2 miles to a lap) and Tony is taking a break before starting the run.  Sherri said that daylight really help with everyone's spirits.

Tom and Tony are incredibly nice and smiley even when seriously sleep deprived. You'd think they might get crabby at around mile 300 but not these guys. Smiling and "may I" and "please" and "thank you" from start to finish. Good people. Oh, and they had GREAT races but I'll leave those details for their respective race reports.

Both Tom and Tony are swearing off ultra tris which disappoints me because it means this is my last time crewing in 40ish degree weather in the middle of the night. It means I won't get to see Frank or Ernie or BillJim again, grab catnaps outdoors in a chair in 39 degree weather, or go without showers and not even care. The event is surreal - running through the park through the night, interacting with many interesting, sleep-deprived personalities, kids and dogs running around, catching up with old friends. Those are the barest of details for a richly rewarding experience.

Forgot to mention, race director Steve Kirby, is submitting a proposal and hopes to get a commitment from the state to do a Double Iron (starting March 2011) at Fort DeSoto Park in St Petersburg FL. DeSoto is host to a number of sprints and would be a great location for a Double.
