Subject: Am I Crazy???
I realized this summer that I needed a goal for next year to work towards.  I saw on the news the Regina Beach Tri happenening and thought to myself I want to do that...  After buying a tri bike and training to about 60% of my potential the last few months, I feel I am making huge gains in time allotment and training. 

I plan to do the Bret Gibson Memorial IceBreaker
- Regina Beach Oly Tri
 
and now for some reason I have it in my head I should register for the Calgary Ironman 70.3

Is this a good idea?  Or am I totally nuts.

I've been spending alot of time at the pool but hope to get alot more miles on the shoes the next few weeks.]

Wow it sounds just like me. I did Regina beach tri a tri and loved it so much I did register for the HIM in calgary next summer. I want to do the Icebreacker and mayby the Pancake. See you there.

For the record, here's my progression:
Year 1: 15-Wing Du; Regina Beach Sprint.
Year 2: Splash 'n Sprint, Icebreaker, Regina Beach Sprint, Morden Half
Year 3: All of the above and Chinook Half and Ironman Canada.
It's all in the training and the attitude.

I'm trying to remember my progression...

2007 - First Marathon, First Tri-A-Tri, First Olympic (called off due to lightening), First Off-Road Almost Olympic
2008 - First Olympic (3rd AG), First Half Iron
2009 - IM CDA (aborted due to hypothermia); Silverman Full Iron (completed)

I'd say if your training regularly, go for it! We've got a girl who did her first Tri-a-Tri and Century ride this year doing Great White North Half 2010. IM Calgary 70.3 rocks. I did it last year and posted a pb overall and on the bike. It's a beautiful course with a fast bike. The swim was a little tricky, but they may have worked out the bugs on that.

Hello fellow Sask tri athletes. Just wondering if anyone knows the dates of competitions in our province for 2010. Also looking for someone to train with periodically this winter/spring.

Check the Saskatchewan Triathlon Association Corporation site. Likely, the same races will occur on the same weekends (except SPIN Off Spadina will be on Father's Day this year).

Sorry,  I am from Swift Current; I've gotten involved in the local bike club here but other than that it's kinda lonely training wise.
