Subject: Anyone want to rent me your airline bike travel case ?

I know it was posted recently but was wondering if there is anyone in SE Michigan that would like to rent out there bike case for a week or so in November.

Found some good airfares, but once I add on the fees for traveling with the bike and having to buy a case, it puts me back into the truck driving down as those airline cost seem to add up quick and once you throw in the cost of a bike case puts it out of reach especially since I've flown three times in my 40+ years, makes it kinda of a dumb purchase.

TIA

RE: Airline bike fees- have you checked Southwest? They are $50 each way, so if you find a case, then it's the cheapest airline to fly, even if the ticket is just a bit more expensive.

I hear your pain, though- that's why Ryan and I are driving all the way to Austin, TX- it just costs too darn much to fly with 2 bikes!

Thanks for the info, but my main option at this point is Spirit as there the main carrier that flys from Detroit to Myrtle Beach, SC non stop and the cost to ship the bike is $75 each leg.  Delta/Northworst is another option and I've read some crazy prices for shipping bikes using them and with at least one stop on all there flights I would be more concerned with the bike being lost.

I just shipped my bike out and back to/from Vegas through FedEx.  Northwest does not insure your bike for jack!  $122 each way with $3k insurance.  IMO it was worth the extra $$.

Thanks for the offers!  I have a flight using Spirit non stop.  Sure will beat sitting in a car for 15 + hours.

Brian I'll be in touch.  Trixie your worthy and will be in touch and will send a glowing recommendation
