Where do you guys in the Baltimore area swim?  I currently swim at Dundalk CC.  Its cheap at $1.50 per swim and pretty convenient for me (I work in Edgewood and live in Baltimore, so its not too far off my way home from work).  However their lap swim hours suck so scheduling to get swim in is sometimes really tough.

Does anyone have a suggestion for something between baltimore and Edgewood that won't break the bank?

I'm curious where the closests YMCA is for you.  I go to Globo gym (aka Lifetime fitness) for my swimming.

Many others go to local swim clubs but have crappy hours also.

yeah, actually there's one in Dundalk really close to the CC.  I didn't realize you could pay per visit there (though its $7 per visit w/o a membership) too.  That may be a good solution for when my regular place's swim hours won't work.

No well I was thinking that you could do like a monthly membership.  Thats what I did back in college during the winter break.

I live in Abingdon and work in Baltimore so probably pass you every day on the commute.  I swim at Bally's in White Marsh.  I bought my membership years ago (2000) so now I pay yearly just to keep it up.  I have no clue what the fees are now. The pool is almost always open and should be right on your way home if you take 95.

I just paid $12 to swim. In cloudy stinky water. With a locker room full of freaky creepy dudes.

$1.50 is a great deal!

Looked at Merritt when I was choosing a gym, but yeah, it was wicked expensive, so I went with Canton Club, which seemed like a steal at only $50 a month.  I may check it out again, because I like having the local gym, and joining a Y on the side of my gym would be just as pricey.

If you're looking at Dundalk CC these are the hours:

Yeah, I'm doing my first HIM next year, and decided to pick at least one close to where I grew up (NH).  Pretty dumb considering there are actually 2 70.3s in NH, but the date for RI works out better.  Might make it back up for Timberman 70.3 in August if I'm available.

I like the idea of biking point to point and not in a loop or out-and-back, seems like you accomplished something being 56 miles from where you started the day.

I used to go to Canton Club until I realized I really needed and pool and I moved.  The Y near me is entirely too crowded.  Thankfully I am in grad school and can use that pool but the hours are craptastic  (as in..I'm working or in class when it is open).  I really need to find a new option for my non-existent funds.

I have not been in a while (rehabing shulder) but I go to DCC as well. Can not beat it for the price. It is only $.50 a swim if you join the fitness center which cost about $75 and includes access to the raquetball court. The weight room leaves a lot to be desired but for the money the pool and R ball court make it worth it. I go to Ballys Northpoint for weight training. I pay $105 per year for membership there which is also a steal. I would like to go to Merritt Canton since I work across the street but I can't justify to myself spending the extra cash. I train for a year for about what it would cost me to train for 3 or 4 months at Merritt.
