I'm in too !!!

I'll be training by HRM.  I have a Polar RS400 and I would like to program the sessions in but it seems quite complicated to program - I have yet to use the training program feature until now.

Does anyone have any experience using the Polar training program feature and how to program say the week 1 training session, without having to re-enter every 30" session in the program ?   that's like 33 steps to the training session - there has to be an easier way !

I'm assuming i can enter in a 30" session at say 90% max hr, followed by 30" at 70%, then repeat both 5x.  its the repeat 5x that i can't figure out.  I can find a way to repeat one 30" session 5x, but not how to repeat 2 sessions 5x.  (don't worry about my 90% of max levels as being correct/incorrect, they are just for illustrative purposes)

TIA and good luck to all.

I'm in too...will be using HRM, a power meter would cost significantly more than my bike is worth...and riding outdoors, I have the perfect road and perfect south florida weather during the winter.

I'm in...

If I was to do a 4th session on Saturdays (50ish mile ride) is there a recommendation on staying at a certain heart rate while doing this program?

Also, not to be overthinking it, but I am looking at doing the prescribed workouts monday, wednesday and Friday, would it be better to do the 4th session on saturday (with >24hours rest) or better on Sunday with only a short rest before the following Mondays workout.

Thanks!

I thnk I am in. *said with butterflies doing flips in my stomach*. Last year didn't work out for me--but I REALLY need to get better on the bike. I'll go back and read the other 10 pages of this thread for the details. Thanks for doing this, Jorge.

I think we should find a way to select some of the most important replies to this thread and put it in another one because if you try to go through it, most of the replies are just "I am in, thanks JorgeM!".
Is it possible? maybe, JorgeM, you can put the selection on your blog.

Silly question, maybe...but I want to work on my cycling over the winter as that is the only thing I am even relatively comfortable with and have hopes of excelling at. The HR moniter that I have does not monitor continuously. It just checks when I press the buttons. Yes, it's a cheap one. If that is the only thing I have, or have nothing is there a way for me to utilize the plan in some way? Thanks!

Jorge, you mentioned holding off on this if we're planning a late IM. I am going to be doing IMWI this year, so when would you suggest I begin this plan?

Thank you!

I'm not Jorge, or am I a coach even, but I am doing IMWI in 2010 as well.  I am planning on doing this for my Winter bike training to get me ready for the IM plan that will start in April.

I followed Jorge's winter bike plan last year and saw great results throughout the race season.  I might be doing this all wrong, but this is my plan.

I'm no expert but now is the time to work on your weaknesses not your strengths.  Admittedly I'm running a lot (my strength) but I'm trying to swim as much as possible.

Going more towards your question:  with practice you should be able to correlate HR and RPE after a some practice so you don't have to worry about pushing the button too often,  otherwise just make that button as convenient as possible.

That's sort of what I was thinking, except I'm on a 12 month IM plan right now. It's less specific and more of "do x hours a week" during build phase, etc. Just want to make sure that I'm not going to peak too soon and then go into a lull for a few months until I get back up to speed.

I went to the blog and I see the table with the general outline of what each week in the plan will cover, but no actual workouts. I clicked on the table thinking that might take me to them, but instead it just gives me a bigger version of the table. Am I missing something?

OK, going to give this a go.

I'm signed up for Ironman New Zealand, so this 14 week schedule will fit in quite nicely.

Never fear, Bwingate...They are all relatively slow! Biking is the one place that I have a prayer of making up a significant amount of time on my friends. So far, they cannot catch me on my bike, and I want to keep it that way! I have the other sports covered as well. Working hard on it all, but LOVE the bike the most!
