Congrats everyone.  This is from wbztv.com - thought you might want to check it out tomorrow.

If you miss seeing them live, don't worry. Beginning TUESDAY morning we will have a brand new 'Find-A-Finish' feature on wbztv.com. It will allow you to enter your athlete's Finish Time and bring up video of the Finish Line from that moment.

This feature will be available for two weeks. For a permanent archive of your athlete's finish, you can take advantage of the BAA's course photographs. Information will be available on the Boston Marathon web site on race day.

Congrats! Thanks for the info on the video feature

max - 2010-04-19 1:25 PM Report from the race!

Now that I see this picture, I was standing right by you guys when I was waiting to get my picture taken in front of the sign! I recognize Marianne. This morning though, I only had a vague sense of who I was looking for (bald guy with pinup tats didn't work as well as I thought it would), and it was a madhouse. Kind of bummed. I was literally probably five feet from you.

Sorry that I too missed the meeting location.  Walked around the whole HS once but eventually just found a place to sit and wait to meet my sis.

I had an awesome time running and I was thrilled with my final time (PR and another BQ).  Weather could not have been much better.  And thanks to anyone and everyone that was out there along the course for support.  I barely even thought about my running or pace for the first half.  Just smiled as I high-fived little kids (and a few big ones) along the side of the road for miles and miles and listened to all the cheering.   Hope eveyone enjoyed the day as much as I did.

Agreed 1000%.  While not a PR, that was a pretty-well executed race for me.  I faded some after Heartbreak, but not too badly.  I went into the race really looking for sub 3:30, thinking a 3:20 would be nice, with a BQ-stretch goal.  When I took stock at Wellesley and felt good, I just hung in there and gritted out the finish.  A beautiful day, fantastic fans, awesome volunteers.  Wow!

I had an incredible time at the race! My second slowest stand alone marathon ever and I could care less. I slapped the hand of every little kid I could find sometimes. I took pictures along the way and uploaded to Facebook, I took my time at aid stations, and just generally enjoyed the day. I loved it!

Congrats to everybody that finished.  My wife ran the race this year (she went 3:39:55).  I was on the back half of Heartbreak Hill (about mile 22) for a couple of hours.  It was amazing to see everybody come through.  Boston blows the other marathons away.

Awesome time with friends and family out in Boston...!!!  Would have loved the sub3...  however a 3:01:xx, 11 minute PR and some great memories will do just fine...!!!   (plus a bunch of goodies from the expo...)

Hope everyone enjoyed the race and the weekend..!!!

Had the slowest time of the BT'ers. Beat only 500 or so finishers, and I suppose the 600 who DNF.  But, wouldn't trade the experience for anything else.  It was my first Marathon, in Boston, running against (with) the best runners in the world.  With long runs of 14-16 miles, and once 18 (although that really knocked me out), I gotta be happy finishing the race.
This site has been great to help me track my training, and everyone so encouraging.  Thanks to everyone for the good words to keep me moving along.
While I want to do another Marathon, perhaps this fall, I also want to start working on my swimming again so I can compete in another Triathlon.

Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone -- a followup question on the Boston Marathon.
This year (2010) there were 22540 official finishers of the 114th Boston Marathon.  Does anyone know if, or what, the number would be of:
"number of people who have finished the race in its history".
Since many race it multiple times, and the large numbers have been present for only the past 15 or so years, I am guessing that the number to be maybe 400,000 or so.
Does anyone know, or remember seeing anything that talks about this?

I tried to research that and couldn't find anything.  I did pop up the number of entrants per year from the BAA site though.  With 1996 being the 100th anniversary, it generated the largest number of runners!

halfironmike - 2010-04-19 5:54 PM Hey Everyone!  Sorry I didn't meet up in the morning.  It was a bit chilly.  We did one loop around the tent at the Athletes' Village but didn't see anyone.  After that, we went out and sat in the sun by the tennis courts.

Congrats to Brett for going well under his goal of 2:59.  A 2:57 on that course is great!

fgump - right on target...nice!

markdills - you and I were in the same corral and finished within 30 seconds of each other.  We must have run together for some portion of the race for sure.  I had a Tri Club San Diego tattoo on my calf.  You may have seen me.  Curious if you had any distinguishing apparel / features (pinup tattoos, perhaps? ).

velcromom - hope you made it through relatively unscathed.  Rest up and have fun at Wildflower.  We've got some big fish to fry up in Idaho this June!

I was kinda sorta hoping for a sub-3, but I was off of last year's time (3:03 high) by a little bit.  Still got my Re-Q (bettered my seeding from my Carlsbad time - woo!) and locked up a guaranteed NYC spot.  Just have to decide quickly (tomorrow) whether I want to do it this year or not.  Hoping for Clearwater this year, so may just wait until 2011.

Thanks to Max for putting the list together.  I'm just sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up, but I'm sure there will be other opportunities.

Good job everyone!  I hope you all enjoyed the race as much as I did.  I'll be back in Hopkinton for the 115th running for sure.

Hey Mike, well done on the race.  I was wearing a Colorado runners roost top.  I probably saw you too but who knows.  Tough day for sure in the last few miles with the headwind and of course, just the hills!  Good times...

I found it. I just can't seem to get it to work. It pulls up a black screen, but won't play.

I found that it want Windows Media Player, and seems to work with Internet Explorer.  My wife originally tried with Mozilla without success.  When I upgraded for free WMP app/update, and then with Internet Explorer, worked fine.
Note that once the screen comes up, need to specify Wace Start and time to look for.  Add your delay (time to starting line) to your finish time to help with this.

Thanks Max for that info.

So, over the past 15 years, about 270,000 runners have entered the Boston Marathon, and about 160,000 in all the years before that.  So, grand total of 430,000 runner entries.  From a quick review, it appears about 90% actually run and complete the course each year.  Thus, an estimated total of about 387,000 numbered runners have crossed the finish line.

If 10% of the finishers also crossed another time, and that percentage might be low considering the number of people and longevity streaks for consecutive Boston Marathons, we are left with just under 350,000 different athletes have completed the course.

Thus, all of us who finished are in a small and distinguished community!

Don't forget all the bandits too - they are a Boston tradition....and I know there were plenty because I treated some.

the med tent was busy as always - glad I did not see any of you in there!

I ran the ICU section this year so EVERYONE got an IV.....dehydration, some mild hyponatremia, hypothermia, one case of hyperthermia, collapse.....fun times.

yeah that makes me want to do a marathon.....sure.

This worked! I was in Mozilla and it didn't do anything so I switched over to Internet Explorer and it was fine. Thanks for the info!
