Got up early and had my abgel with PB, but counldt eat all of it, i had butterflies. Then made way down stairs to race start. Did gear check thequick warmup.
Event warmup:

We jogged for about 10 min then stretched a bit. Then we waited for the race to start.
Run
  • 5h 31m
  • 26.2 miles
  • 12m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

This was an amazing race. It was so well organized and the energy was great too. Greg ran with me the first 10 miles, which was awesome!
Let me recap the high points, the views were awesome, the volunteers were plentiful, the organization was unlikle anything i have seen at any other race, the oranges at Mile 8 from Kaiser, the Bananas in Golden Gate park, the cheerleaders in golden gate park, my 5 hour energy at the half way mark, my hubby running with me and cheering me on at the end, the chocolate mile, even tnhough i didnt eat my chocolate right then, the end of Lake merced, the finishers necklace and shirt, the stretching and changing tents at the finish.
Now let me recap the low points, the amount of TNT people that started in the faster pace groups that walked, 10 people across, from the very beginning, the amount of weaving in and out i had to do b/c of all the walkers, the fact that i had a slower pace at the beginning than i wanted cuz of all the walkers, the drain on my energy i felt at mile 12, the strong urge i had to split off at the half and not finish, Lake Merced, my aching feet, my slow pace, the fact that i had too much gatorade, my PR passing in front of my eyes and not being able to run fast enough to get it, the long lines to the shuttle bus back to Union Square, and the fact that we coulndt stay longer :)
all in all, it was a great experience and an amazing race to be able to do.
I want revenge on the 26.2 though, and i want a PR.
What would you do differently?:

I would have monitored how much fluid i was taking in much better. I did well on GU, but took in too much Gatorade. I need to be better about paying attnetion to how much goes in every hour, especially if i am not going to use the fuel belt in the race.
Also, i still cant find that HTFU-ness and suck up the pain like everyone else i know seeems to be able to do.
Not sure if the bike riding the day before had any effects, but maybe not do so much climbing the day before on a heavy hybrid bike.

Post race
Warm down:

Found Greg, got my goodies, got my gear bag, changed, streteched, made my way to looooong line for the shuttle back to union square. Then collapsed on the hotel bed while greg searched for yummy post race food dor us.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too much fluid, not enough suck-it-up attitude.

Event comments:

This was definitley a well organized race. It was a huge TNT event. I felt a little out of place not being on TNT. But i managed. I would like to have seen more food at the end and maybe some chocolate milk. but other than that, all was great!

Maybe a little feet-up on the day before your marathon would have brought better results than bike riding with hills.  :

What do I know, I haven't done ANY marathons!  So you've done two! and that is pretty darn awesome.

Way to go, Jamie! You did awesome! The area around SF is super hilly so I know that was tough. I'm so impressed! You do have the suckitupitude because of all the long runs you did in training in crappy weather - the race was just the icing on the cake.

You're way to hard on yourself.  A little over a year ago you did your first Oly and now you've done two FULL marathons.  You have come a long way in a short time.  Be patient, the speed with come!

Please post a pic of yourself in your necklace - would love to see it.

Congrats on a great race.

PS = you did HTFU = you wanted to quit at the half way point and didn't.  Way to go!

It was a tough course and a long way to travel.  Don't beat yourself up.  Sometimes it just ain't your day.

I have a couple races a year that I just don't seem to want it.  I figure it's just a sign that in the grand scheme of things it's not as important as I think it should be.  Sometimes we forget how great we are just for running a marathon.
