Do you do it yourself at home or in a salon?

Another big question is does it become less painful and take less time the second time round, third, etc? Or is it always really sore? My hairs were about 2cm when I pulled them out the other day.

I have waxed my legs before. It was kinda painful but not as bad as people make out. I dont think it hurts any less the 2nd or 3rd time. I didnt do it enough for it to get thinner. Make sure the hairs are cut short b4 you do it, hurts quite a lot when it is long.

No thanks to the waxing... although my roommate "Nair's" his back (very lumberjackish back) to excellent results... only time I tried nair I left it on like 30 seconds and it gave me a chemical burn

I'll stick to the Venus razor

The results are worth the pain and money!!!!!

You have to go somewhere, with experience and good wax.  It makes a huge difference!!!!   After a while the hair follicles become less and hairs become finer.

"Us girls" do A LOT of pucking, cutting, coloring, tanning, shaving, and waxing to look good for you men......it nice to return the favor!!!!!!

A well "man-scaped" man can go a long way!!!!!!

I'm not that hard core yet on the shaving, does it really knock off time when you shave?

X2

I heard of some scientific reports where it shaves (no pun intended) 3-5 minutes off your 40k TT time.

But... wetsuit in open water negates the need to shave, no?  I'll deal with slower pool splits!

It took me a while to become comfortable wearing spandex, that is enough emasculation I'm willing to give up for this sport.  Can't bring myself to shave or wax legs or chest.  Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a lil "cleanup" and "manscaping" but to take it all off is a bit much for me.  I just don't see the reward benefit.  I am also not a pro!

This of course is entirely my personal preferance, and I do not judge those who do participate. Wax away!

I looked up emasculation, and here's what the google dictionary said.
Noun

S: (n) emasculation (loss of power and masculinity)
S: (n) castration, emasculation (neutering a male animal by removing the testicles)

I can see how removing body hair makes one feel a loss of masculinity, but wearing spandex kind of has the opposite effect doesn't it? Your masculinity is a little more exposed. Unless it's too tight, then maybe it could feel like you're being castrated?

I attempted to have my back waxed once, as I've mentioned on a back hair thread, and it was the most painful thing I've ever experienced. I only made it through one strip being pulled off. It was nice to not have to shave that section for a few weeks, but not nice enough to endure the pain. So I guess it could be that I'm not masculine enough to endure waxing.

Do I look like a man that worries about emasculation?

I epilate.

I do it at home.

And yes, it hurts less the more you do it.

Laser hair removal gives the best, longest  lasting results. Waxing hurts. Nair last about 2 weeks on me. Shaving is very time consuming
