Can't stand shaving my legs every two days and home waxing is insanely painful. Has anyone had experience with hair removal creams? Do they work? How long until they need doing again?

They do work, but they are stinky and can cause irritation. The creams turn your hair into goo that must be scraped off. If you're hairy you'll still need to touch up after with a razor. The creams do work well for your chest, if you want to avoid the stubblies.

I'm so glad that my most useful contribution to the triathlon community is a review of Veet.

I've found them to work OK. They don't burn my skin, and it lasts a LITTLE longer than shaving. It's not stubbly.

Here's a link showing how I do it:

I use Magic Shave.  It's $2.50 a can at Walgreens.  It's a powder- mix it with a little water and leave it on for about 3ish mins.  The first time you apply it you might still have a little hair.  Wait 2 days and use it again and you will be baby smooth!

How long do these creams last for before you have to do it again?

eg. shaving 2 days, waxing 2-4 weeks.

Shoot, I can't put a time on it very easily. Maybe 5 days?... And it doesn't come back all prickly. I mean, I'm not advocating using them all time, but I use them now and then.

They are chemicals. Usually smell nasty.
I think there is a BT video comparing about 6 hair removal methods but I can't find it now.

If you are not careful you can get a very nasty chemical burn. If you use one of these follow the directions very carefully.

I tried Nair about 11 years ago. Don't get any on your nipples. Some things I know not because I'm smart.

Did you know your nipples can bleed?

Nair works great for me but I have to leave it on longer than recommended. The results last for about 2 weeks. I don't use it as much now as I prefer laser hair removal

Oh yeah, most of us figured that one out after our first long run.

I've used Nair for men a couple of times and it works, but you have to apply it, let it sit one there for a while (5 min., if I remember correctly), scrub like hell in the shower and still you will have some hair left. Go at it again a couple of days later and you're ok.

I only shave now when I'm away on vacation or travelling for work. When I'm home, I use the a Braun Silk-epil that I'm certain was not designed to be used by them... it's white and hot pink...
But it works really great and eventually you get used to having the hair being pulled out... the first few times it hurts like no tomorrow.

I haven't really had great success with the creams.  I've used Nair, Nair for Men, and Veet.  I've followed the directions to the second, and I've left them on ~5 minutes longer than recommended.  It still leaves me rather patchy, and I end up just looking like I have mange.

I never had much success with Nair either.I'm thinking about laser hair removal but I'm not sure how to go about finding a good place to do it.
