Subject: Multisport HIM in Welland

I noticed that Multisport has a half ironman distance race scheduled for June 27 in Welland. Is anyone familiar with the terrain for this race?

This sounds like an awesome race.  I don't know what the exact course will look like but previous Welland races were excellent - flat, scenic and fun.  I'm definitly signing up for this one.

    Bike90kmFlat and Fast Course on quiet country roads.
    Run21.1kmFlat and Fast Course on paved paths alongside the Welland Recreational Waterway. Some sections are completely tree covered!

    Well, I am from the area so let me put in my 2 cents:

    The swim is in an area with very little waves, quite calm waters.
    The bike is mostly along the canal so mostly flat. no hills to speak of.
    Run will be the same as far as I know. Great little community and very proud of their races! I would recommend it! However, it is well known to be very hot and very humid in late June. Weather needs to be considered! Beware of humidity! It will kill ya!

    Interesting .... this might fit in better with my schedule ...  I'm thinking two next year and with this one there would be more time between it and Cedar Point.

    Looking at making this my first HIM. Did my first TRi last year at lakeside but found the distance too short. I would rather be consistant and steady instead of running my a@$ off. Also hoping extending the distance will help with my asthma as I shoud be able to keep my HR below zone 3 and not run out of air!

    Any thoughts

    I'm planning on this race as well.  Not too sure on the course, but my coach says it should be flat and fast.  I'm doing IMFL this year so I'll be using this race as a bit of a prep race for florida.  It is the best HIM in ontario to simulate the Florida conditions.
