 Kansas |  Subject: 30th Annual Topeka Tinman Triathlon Staying at Lake Shawnee!!Exciting news for Topeka Tinman 2010!! The 30th Annual running of the Topeka Tinman is no longer under the direction of KLM but as of now has a new race director, Ryan Robinson, President of Sherpa Sports. Many of you know Ryan from Kansas 70.3 in Lawrence, the new Branson 70.3, Kansas Marathon, Ultramax Triathlon and Rock Chalk Run. His events draw several athletes from a wide area and are professionally run and top-notch. This year's Tinman will be moved to the west side of Lake Shawnee due to construction on the east side of the lake. KLM wants everyone to think that this event is being moved to Lake Perry, but that is absolutely NOT TRUE!!! KLM WAS NOT given the contract for Tinman due to their poor management of the event in past years (as many of us who participated while KLM was running it can attest to!) So, pass the word on to your fellow triathletes to be careful about registering for the Topeka Tinman...make sure you sign up for the event that is occurring at Lake Shawnee with Sherpa Sports and Shawnee County Parks and Rec. Also, be advised that KLM is now saying they are moving this event to Lake Perry and calling it the "Topeka Tinman Triathlon." Please spread the word and make sure people understand that there are two events on the same day with the same name. Tell them to steer clear of the KLM race. It appears to me that someone's feelings were hurt and now they are taking their ball and going home. |

I spoke to Ryan last week during the County Commission meeting where the contract for the Tinman was approved. He said that the website and early registration might be up as soon as 12-20-09. I spoke with him for 10 minutes or so and could tell that he is excited about taking on this race. I think this could be the start of a "beautiful relationship" with Sherpa Sports and the Topeka Tinman!! GOOD LUCK RYAN!!! |

Registration is open! I also just had someone tell me that they had registered (not knowing any better) for the "KLM Tinman at Perry"...well as most of you know that race will NOT be happening...at least not at Perry or Lake Shawnee. Anyways, if there is anyone out there that has also made the same mistake and you are wondering how to get your money back for registering for a race that won't happen...here are my instructions: 1.) Contact KLM and ask to refund your money...or contact your CCard. 2.) Send me an email at sherpasports at gmail.com and I will comp you into the REAL Topeka Tinman being held at Lake Shawnee...while you hope that KLM gives you a refund. (BIG O-should ring a bell to some of you) |
