My October training has been great. I've set PRs in both the snatch and clean and jerk.

Sorry, Fred, I had to put in my little smartazz comment. I still have lots of respect for endurance folks.

Got "off the couch" the end of August...have 2 sprints under my belt.....down from 218# to 194#..i cant think of anything more fun that helps me stay in shape, be in great health, and have a sense of accomplishment every single day!
My goal for Nov. is to up my run total to 70mi....wish me luck..gonna keep hittin the pavement!
Jb

Be careful-  it can cause injury to some people who double thier mileage in one month.

Thanks for the head's up......is there a "rule of thumb" for upping mileage on running that you use when not on a training plan?
..been following Joe Friel's Tri Training Bible for reccomendations for the art of recovery during training....been following it to a "T"....i am always ready for the NEXT workout while following his guidelines....
I will be starting the 20wk Oly plan the end of Nov. so i am not following a specific plan now..just want to build all 3 up a little higher to go into my Oly training with a strong base.
Thanks!

That's my fourth highest month for cycling volume since starting this in 2004. Funny thing is, it didn't feel like a lot at the time. I was just enjoying being on the bike.  I really need to get to the pool more. At this point I'm swimming just barely enough to remember where my jammers are.

jasonwb, the rule of thumb is to not increase your running volume more than 10% from one week to the next. It's also not a good idea to increase it week over week without decreasing it at some point to give your body a chance to recover so you can keep increasing the volume. Every 4th week is typical, although for older athletes around 55 and older, every 3rd week can be advisable.

Great job coming back Chris! Seriously!

Thanks Fred, slowly crawling out of the mire.   Interesting the time off has given me the freedom to change my training focus, I am leaving a lot of swimming yards on the shelf for a few months.   Hopefully come Jan it'll come back

Low on the bike, but decided to ramp up running for a half marathon and pick up on the bike later in winter.

I also had a week in Vegas + recovery time so I was off training for at least 10 days, but still happy with the numbers.

PS Vegas is unbelievable!

Intense numbers from BT this week . . . motivating to say the least!  This was my first full month back running after an injury.  If I can keep building over the winter and add some volume on the bike, I'll be a happy triathlete:

Bike:5h 15m 50s  - 93.3 Mi
Run:9h 35m 30s  - 67.2 Mi
Swim:5h 43m 47s  - 17800 Yd

Lurked on this post for awhile because i was intimidated by the numbers going up...then I went and checked my log:
Monthly totals:
S:  21300.00 Yd - 9h 12m
B:  180.63 Mi - 12h 30m
R:  97.04 Mi - 17h 50m

I'm pretty proud of myself. If someone had told me I would run almost 100 miles in a single month six months ago, I would have questioned their choice of pharmaceuticals...let's break 100 in November!

Last month of training for the Marine Corps Marathon.   November will have a little more variety in it.
