Comments: Started out with about 10 of our friends some dressed up in costume. I was going to have fun and take it easy. Around mile 6 I felt really good and decided to pick up my pace. I went from a 10 min/mile pace to around 9 min/mile pace average. What would you do differently?: Start off a little stronger to reduce my run time. My initial goal was to finish in 2:15 or less. To finish in less than 2 was to my suprise! Post race
Warm down: walked to food tent. grabbed some snacks and water... stretched legs and kept moving while waiting for friends to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: too many layers. I had my jacket plus a long sleeve dry wick and short sleeve dry wick. The jacket was great to start out in. If I could have dropped it off around 6 mile mark I would have been less uncomfortable. Cup of Coffee, Peanut Butter and Honey Toast, and a banana. I drank half a Gatorade over an 1/2 hour to 1 hour before we went to meet our friends near lake Calihoun.
Walked/jogged to race start (about 1/2 mile). Stopped at port-o-potties along race course ... No Lines!
