Subject: Buying a New or Used Trainer Wheel
I don't know where the best place is to buy a rear wheel and 10 speed shimano cassette.

I'm just looking to buy it for my trainer. I'm buying because it's quite a pain to change over the tire from training tire to road tires. I've looked on ebay but normally you have to buy the front wheel as well. I can buy both new wheel and cassette but they more expensive. Should I see if the local bike store has cheap 2nd hand ones?

Definitely used... for a pure trainer wheel, just buy the cheapest, true/round wheel with a hub that accepts a Shimano 10 cassette. Looking at Ebay might take a bit of time but you should be able to pick up a rear only for about $100 shipped.

Where DO you live? There are many non-US users that might have some better ideas if we know your location, or atleast country.

I'm sorry, complete missed that....

Guess that makes it a bit tougher to find a cheap rear wheel... keep you eyes on Ebay, but also look at www.probikebit.com an English outfit that ships across the globe and usually have some nice deals (didn't have one right now that fit your needs... I checked...)

Another option is to talk with your local LBS and see if they have anything laying around from a trade-in etc. I did this recently and while the store I walked in to didn't have one, they were able to make a call and got a decent new wheel for me for less than the Nashbar wheel before shipping.

Not having to change the tire all the time is a nice convenience.

This is exactly what I did.  I told them what I was looking for - used, true and heavy!  They set one aside for me for like $60.00.  Worked out perfectly.

Brilliant, I'll go around to bike stores today and see what they have.
