Guess I'm slower & older - corral 22 for me, but I may have to take a DNS as my shin splints are flaring pretty good - my ART Doc told me it's probably not a good idea to run it - my coach said take 2 weeks off then run it... still undecided - but leaning toward Doc's advice - I see a Sports Medicine Doctor tomorrow - he'll get deciding vote.  it SUCKS!

Last year was nice.  OVERCAST.  Cool in the morning but very nice.

I'm in Corral 23,   I projected a 5:30 finish.     I was in # 25 at the Seattle R&R and it took us about 30 minutes before we crossed the timing mat.  They had about a minute or two between corrals taking off to avoid conjestion....

Last year was a mess for corrals (if there were really any) It was just ease on down the sidewalks and join the mass of runners.

Expect alot of dodging and swerving around Half Mary walkers and others.

Corral Number 20 for me.  Bib number 20067.  I estimated 5 hours figuring a 10 min mile average.  But then what do I know it's my first time.  (marathon virgin)

I took a nice 10 mile practice run on the route today, up and down Hacienda, with Sunrise Hospital in the middle.  I think the top of Hacienda at Durango should be about the 20 mile mark, and except for the little uprise over the bridge it's downhill from there.

The weather was beautiful.  I can only hope it is the same next week.

Yahoooooo, only a week to go

On my confirmation email, it gave me my corral number and my "race number".  I just assumed that was my bib number.  Maybe it is something different.

After all, I am a husband, I never know what is going on.

Good luck to everyone racing Sunday. My wife and two of her friends from out of town are running, I'm staying at home with our kids.

Weather is looking great this year.

If manage to spot three women in Finland running shirts among the 26,000 of you out there, that's them!

First full marathon....finished, but boy was it alot harder than I thought it would be.

I bought one of those paper wax coated jackets that was perfect for the cold, but my mile 10 I was soaked in sweat, and ditched it.  But by mile 14 I was freezing again.  I should have tied it around my waist instead of throwing away.

I was so strong at mile 14, I was smiling and thinking yahoo only like another 12 miles to go.  And then came mile 19.....by 20 my heart and mind were still saying yes,  but my legs were screaming NOOOOO.

I never knew that I could run by taking 2 inch steps.

Anyway, I made it to the end with a walk, run strategy, and enjoyed pizza, doughnuts, bananas, orange, and more at the end.

The medal is very impressive (heavy)

I limped back to the car and spent the next hour at the LV Athletic Club soaking in the jacuzzi.

Wifey wants to know why I am moving so strangely

Your story and mine are about the same. At 13-14 I was thinking this is going great by 19-20 I was thinking "What the heck happened to my legs?". At mile 23 I was thinking that "Who came up with this stupid distance and why am I doing it?". I was walk run by this time for sure, but everytime I walked the running started out with a bunch of expletives.

By mile 23-24 I convinced myself that 13.1 miles is the right distance to run at any one time. Then by 5pm last night while I was still walking funny I decided that it wasn't THAT bad and if I trained better I could do it better. Yeppers that is what I am going to do ...Review my training and see where I went wrong (I must remember that I had a cold an Plantar Faciitis as well for the race).
