Total Time = 2h 52m 45s
Overall Rank = 93/147
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 11/17
Pre-race routine:

Went to the race with Paul and Chris ~6a
Swim
  • 40m 28s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 42s / 100 meters
Comments:

Worst swim ever! Got kicked in the face about 50m into the start. Goggles went off over my head. As I was putting them back on, the swimmers from the back started coming up on me which made it difficult. I started to panic, breathing was way off and decided to breast stoke until I calmed down. Didn't get my composure back until the start of the second lap.
What would you do differently?:

More OWS -- I seriously freaked out and considered quitting right there...
Transition 1
  • 05m 1s
Comments:

Long run up the steep boat ramp -- this was at least a 1/4 mile run to the TA.
Struggled with swim suit removal after coming out of the water.
What would you do differently?:

Swim suit removal -- not enough body glide pre-race.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 36s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.46 mile/hr
Comments:

Good overall. I was happy with my bike. Managed the hills well and the downhills about as fast as I could stomach them.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to recruit more muscle for stronger hill climbs.
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
What would you do differently?:

Nothing -- pretty smooth transition overall
Run
  • 49m 3s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 54s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good coming off the bike and let it loose. I am happy with this run. It was the first time I have broken 50min on a tri 10k.
Splits:
8:40, 8:26, 8:20, 8:21, 8:20, 8:55

What would you do differently?:

The bike/run bricks have really helped me improve my run for a strong finish. I need to keep these up in my workout routine.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swim absolutely killed this race for me...

Event comments:

The backdrop of Lake Powell made this course unbelievably beautiful. The weather was absolutely perfect. Once I got past the swim, I really enjoyed this race. I am glad I pulled myself together and finished the race -- good one for experience going forward. I plan to race this one again next year.
Downside was that the race was not well organized and the goodie bag was one of the weakest ever.
