I need you opinion on wheels. My birthday is comming up within the next 350 days and I've decided to treat myself to a set of new wheels. I may not really need them, but that I not really the point, is it?

I narrowed it down to two budget wheels - theWilliams System 30x and the Neuvation R28 Aero4 (the rest of my money gets spent on frivoulous luxury items such as food and shelter for my kids).

Some facts: I'm a not-quite-forty mid-packer who does about 5 sprints and 1-2 olys or HIMs per year. I ride a 40km at about 33-35 km/hr (21-22 mph). I'm fairly heavy ~200lbs and strong. My favorite colour is blue. I'm planning to use the whels mainly for racing, but I'll probably get lazy and start training on them as well.   Both wheel sets weight about 1620g. The Neuvations are about $340 per set and the Williams will be $540 per set

Which wheel would you recommend, and why?

Thanks for the help....

This won't help you with your decision, but...I've picked out the Williams System 30 as my "big" Christmas gift from my husband this year...I can hardly wait! (:

I cannot contrast the 2 but I have the Neuvation wheels & love them. I put a nice flat spot in my stock Alex rims & decided to pick up the Neuvations as replacements. I train & race on them & like them very much. I could feel the difference vs. my old wheels from the very first ride. Given the price of the Neuvations, they are tough to beat.

I would vote Neuvation.  I have no experience with the Williams wheels but I have the Neuvation M28s and I love these wheels.  I use them for training and racing and think they are quite bulletproof.  I have roughly 1,000 miles on mine and they are still rolling true, and I weight about 220 lbs.  I did spend the extra for the ceramic bearings, I guess I don't know if that was worth the money or not but I'm very happy with the purchase.  I don't think you can go wrong with those wheels.

I too would recommend the Neuvations.  I have the R28 SL3s and have had them for 2 yrs.  I also upgraded to the ceramic bearings and the wheels have been great.  I am 6' 215 and have had no issues with them at all.  They replaced Shimanos and are a huge improvement.  They have held up to my weight with no problem.  You just can't beat the quality/price ratio.

I haven't had to deal with them, but have heard the customer service is outstanding.  Always good to know just in case.

FWIW...the Williams System 30/30x come stock with hybrid ceramic bearings, so no need to upgrade like you would with the Nuevations.  Also included with the wheelset, are high-performance brake pads...a nice bonus, IMO.

Not sure you can go wrong with either, I have a Neuvation front on my Tri bike right now and it has been pretty solid.  I don't own any Williams but have read good stuff about them also.

I have the Williams 30x set and am very happy with them.  I use them for both training and racing.  I think they are a little bit deeper than the similar Neuvations.  I went with them primarily because they were designed with Clyde size riders in mind and durability was a big factor for me.

To all of the Neuvation owners, would I see an upgrade from my current stock Shimano R-500 if I switched to Neuvations R28's?
