What would you do differently?:

Tuck the pull cord into suit under arm so it is out of the way but still accessible. The Wet Suit Strippers were a nice touch. Made getting out of the suit a snap.

Comments:

Hurricane Ida in gulf made high winds in south Florida. 20-25Mph solid winds. Gusts to 35+. Tailwind we flew, crosswinds hurt and the headwind was brutal all the way back for the last 10 miles. This has to be my toughest bike day ever. It felt like doing the 75miles vs. 56 miles by the time I was done. Just wanted to be off the bike.

Run
  • 3h 15m 27s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 14m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Without and energy left from the bike, it was difficult to eat energy to regain. Ran to mile 3. Started run walk from there. Side stiches kept creeping if I ate and if I did not eat would bonk. Felt like puking a lot but never did. Mile 9 was a walk from then in. Calf and leg cramping was setting in and slowed a fast walk to a slow walk. Not the way to finish a race but did finish.

Post race
Warm down:

Lay flat out on earth and pray for an angel to take me.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Winds....Cramping... side stiches

Event comments:

Next year, lets look at the International distance instead.
