I'm a BG fan myself...just don't like the cream.

Butter works much more better in the pants, especially for long rides or after a salt water swim. BG is best for wetsuit hickies, thigh rubbing and so forth. Butter is for slathering the nether regions.

That said, it is less than 50/50 whether I even put it on for a ride less than 75 miles.

Body glide sweats off me quickly.
I use tri-glide for wetsuit, arm pits, neck, wrists and ankles.
If I remember I put assos cream on before a HIM bike but i don't bother for shorter ones. Last HIM I forgot and didn't get any chaffing so that's optional now.

x2. I used to only use BG for a long time but then got some BB in a race packet and tried it. It was awesome and I have used it ever since. Much better for in the shorts.

I use BG for neck and underarms before swim with wetsuit...I use Uddercream for bike shorts. Uddercream is cheap at Wal-Mart and works great for me...basically does the same as chamois butter or Assos but MUCH cheaper.

This except I use butter just about every time I get on my bike.

I use body glide during tris and swims.  My wetsuit rubs on my neck.

For long rides, I prefer butter.

I have "herd" the same thing (<= sorry, couldn't resist)

At one race recently, Utter Butter handed out samples by the fistful. I keep them in my transition bag as a back-up to Chaomis Butt'r, which I like better given the thicker viscosity.  I have heard great things about Assos as it lubricated as well as helps to cleanse your chamois but have not ventured to purchase it yet.

IMO they're for different things. I ride in bib shorts so for long rides I use Chamois Butter. I'd never think about using BG in my bibs. I use BG for wet suits swims and as/where needed for running.

I use Assos.  It's pretty thick and works really well.  It has witch hazel in it, so it can be a little tingly

I use TriSlide before the swim. Nothing after, but I'm going to try using the butter now that I've worked up to longer distances.
