Pre-race routine:

Got there, waited in all the normal lines, chatted with a few friends that i ran into. pretty uneventful and normal pre-race time. very cold out compared to the last few days.
Event warmup:

ran about a mile and a half fairly easy with a few strides and about 2 min at threshold, did all this in sweats and a jacket trying to get a sweat worked up. Just before the race ditched most of the clothes and ran in just shorts and a tank.

Comments:

Run felt pretty good, i have only on ave run about 13 miles since oct 1st, so i was really happy with how this turned out. the plan was to take advantage of the first mile's downhill and go out faster and not have it hurt as much. went through one mile just under 5:30 (5:26 i think) and then settled right onto 6 min pace for the rest of the race. passed a lot of people that caught me in the middle at the longer uphill near the finish.

What would you do differently?:

train!!!! i need to be running a lot more. but i am happy with where things stand right now and with some decent miles under me i should be heading in the right direction.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around and a short half mile.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

total training amount is WAY too low right now.

Performance: Good
Course: flat with a 400m gentle downhill in the first mile, false flats the rest of the way. out and back course, so we got the long uphill near the finish while getting blasted by a headwind (loved that!)

Good run.   I so wish I could  get that fast.  Probably won't happen given that I started running at 42 and generally weigh over 190lbs.
