I'm a dork so why not be consistant?  I wear shorts over my tights. I only have 1 pair and I rarely wear them anyway.

x 5 or whatever we are at for no short over tights.  There is no reason for that.  As someone already stated we participate in a sport that glorifies spandex in every sport!  Shorts over them just look like you are uncomfortable with yourself IMO.

Also, I roll my tights with nothing underneath...but I don't run I weather sub 30 degrees either.

Running shorts always. Pants if below freezing.

Tights are worn as a base layer. Wear them proudly.

Men & spandex, I don't like that match.

Just run inside and problem solved.

jmickle11 - 2009-12-09 9:15 AM Let's face it...someone said that shorts over tights were dorky or something like that. Well, if it's 20 outside I'll have compression shorts under my UA cold gear tights and then wear running shorts over that. Oh yes I'll also have gloves on and ear band/balclava/sull cap usually with a running hat/visor over that to shield sun/rain/snow/sleet...I don't worry about being dorky...cause with all of that crap on it's a given that I look dorky!!!

20 degrees isn't even cold.....

Barkeep - 2009-11-27 9:24 AM Too cold here in the Midwest to only be rocking tights and nothing else; my boys need more layers to protect them from the elements. I either always have some Nike Pro Fir compression shorts underneath or I'll combo the tights with the tri shorts. If its especially cold I'll throw some light weight running pants over the tights.

PSA for guys running in cold weather.  They make apparel called "wind shorts" (or sometimes wind-proof shorts) which are compression shorts with an extra windproof panel in front of the crotch.  If you're gonna run outside...in the cold...get some of these.

X2. If it's cold enough to wear tights, I usually wear these underneath them. Forgetting to wear them is a mistake you will only make once.

x3...Saw a ton of guys sporting the shorts over tights look at a local T-day race yesterday and just laughed to myself.  Don't get me wrong, I'm sure people might think I SHOULD cover myself up since tights aren't really flattering for the guys who once thought lifting weights was the only way to work out.  However like what was said above, if you're going to wear the spandex, get over being embarrased, it's part of the sport to wear the tight/form-fitting stuff.  It's part of what makes it performance gear...

I rock the shorts over the tights.  I don't give a rats what others think.  I'm not yet over my fear of spandex.  I go with makes me comfortable.

Never gets that cold in Sydney so the option of nothing underneath or on top is always there!

I don't ask my wife and kids for their opinions on workout gear, I'm fortunate that they just offer it up.Wink  Anyway they initially had comments for me years ago when I started with the spandex but now accept it.  However they still point out guys running with shorts on over spandex for how odd it looks.

However as was stated, who really cares, go with what you're comfortable with.  It's all good.  At least we're all out there working out right?

Non-cotton microfiber boxer briefs under tights only when it is sub 30. Otherwise, I go commando.

Oh, and NEVER shorts over tights. That looks stupid. Always.

Half the fun of running in tights is feeling like you are running outside, in the middle of winter, naked. Shorts swishing between your legs just ruins the fun. Am I right?

some sort of skivies under the CW-Xs.. but it's mainly my upper half that is cold when running, so i'll be layered  (compression top and tech shirt/t=shirt, etc)with just the CW-Xs on over the legs

Yep.  Sounds stupid, but I slip a cotton sock over my, uhhh, you know, and then put on my polypropylene, then shorts, or if it's colder, add an extra layer over that.
