Pre-race routine:

Warmed up really well for a change... I never do this but thought I'd give it a try. Got up really early and had a bit of a change from my usual routine. Starting with breakfast... things just felt "OFF" today. Felt kind of sick and congested getting up too.
Event warmup:

Ran around for nearly 2 miles/15 min... Wanting a new 5K PR of sub 20 today so I thought I'd better warm up really well!

Comments:

Hilly as usual and not the best course to choose for a 5K PR. I new Todd/FF Stock would be there so I looked around the starting line to see if I could pace off of him... couldn't find him and then the gun went off!

I went out way too fast as usual and then saw Todd pass me about 300 yards towards the finish line! He had an amazing kick! Way to go Todd! :)

I finished 15 seconds slower than last year! :(
What would you do differently?:

Pace on the intro and kicked it in later.. also I wouldn't have ran yesterday!
Post race
Warm down:

Chatted with Todd/FF Stock and his wife and buddy! Then took off to meet up with the family!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being sick, running yestyerday, going out too fast as usual! :(

Event comments:

Had a blast just like last year! Even though I finished 15 seconds slower than last year!

Great race no matter what!  I wish we could have met up prior.  I think if I could have kept you conservative through the uphill, you could have turned it on at the turn to go downhill and easily have gone sub 20:00.  But I admire your guts.  What was your first mile in?  Great seeing you again.  We'll be in good shape in May and there's a deadflat 5k called the Airlife Memorial.  Throw in a few speed workouts prior to that one and no problems...
