the bear - 2005-06-07 2:16 AM Wanted to bump this back up to the front page and let everyone know they have until Friday, June 10 to become a part of the challenge. Looks like we have 19 guys and 33 ladies, by my count.

So is this thing based on sheer numbers?? I mean if they outnumber us almost 2 to 1, does that get taken into consideration?

I guess there would be lots of ways to measure - total miles, average miles per person, average % increase from last month, etc...

{{{sigh}}}Read my initial post. We will average the %-of-goal-completion of the individual team members, throwing out the highest and the lowest.

max - 2005-06-07 12:07 PM Can we still get in this deal? The month of May I had 328 miles, so put me down for 400 for June and $20 donation. Oh, I've got 80 in the bank so far this month!

OK, max, is that for the girls or the guys? After seeing your cross-dress shot, I think you could go either way.

I'm willing to play for the team that has the best fringe benefits! So what are you guys offering?

We can almost guarantee you won't be the ugliest one on the team, Again, having seen your cross-dress shot, you would have a lock on that position if you were a Gear Goddess.

However, if you play for the Gear Goddesses, you get a bunch of cute tri chicks inspiring you all the time...

Hmmm...Bear, I'm thinkin' you might want to stay out of the girls camp for a bit. Now maybe if my wife had let me wear the REST of the outfit, I mighta stood a chance! No...on second thought, nothing could have improved that tacky photo!

OK...it's settled. I'm not sure of the demograhpics here, but I'm thinking the odds are stacked pretty heavily against the Goddesses...so as long as I don't have to ride in that skirt or any other sort of camisole, bustier, or other garment that takes 2 persons to put on, I'd be willing to post my mileage to the Goddesses camp.

And heaven forgive me for what I have done!

I was given these numbers: 19 men signed up, 33 for the women.

Hey! We could have TWO women's team (16 and 17 ) and the men would be spanked TWICE OVER!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  Oh that's just too precious...

OK, here's the first pass at the spreadsheet, links to logs kind of primitive but workable.

Looks like we have 24 men to 35 women, but the men have higher average goals and higher average pledges.

Let me know if you find any errors. Some of you with androgenous names (Chris) may have been put on the wrong teams. And, no max, despite your tendencies you have to be on the men's team.

do what you can-- there is no point setting an unattainable goal, you'll just get grumpy and injured. to calculate what is reasonable, look at your training schedule and your life schedule, and literally plan EVERY ride for the month. add up that mileage. that's the only way to get a real sense that makes any sense.

ignore the bear. every time his posts seems harsh, remember, he's just a bear, and those posts "are harsher than intended." if he were a real man, of course, you'd expect more, but since he's a bear....

And we all remember what Yogi had to say about the "average bear".... Just because he's a talking bear doesn't mean he's smart!

No, zg, it was a smart-ass comment, go for 40 if you think that's an appropriate goal.
