Hey Livestrong - I'm a complete newb to all the disciplines...so the following question might seem kinda dumb. Does "fast course" mean a flat course...or what does it mean?

I am planning to do my first half mary around that time and was aiming for the Tobacco Road half mary since its so close. I wouldn't mind running this one if its flat/flatter.

Yup Fast = Flat. You go up one small bridge and the rest  of the course is flat and thats for the Half.

My guess is that Wrightsville would be a faster course given that it's all pavement.

That depends. Tobacco Road is mostly flat and 18 miles of it are on smooth trail not pavement, so it is easier on the feet. The ATT is GREAT to run on. I am doing the full marathon there 3/21. It will be my first.

YIKES!  I've been out of comission with runner's knee.  I obviously won't be running the full anymore   I will probably run the half instead, given that I can heal up and get back to running soon.

Finally registered for the half- I got a little freaked out that there were only 8 spots left.  Now there are only 6.  If you haven't registered better get around to it so you won't be stuck running the full

They added 250 slots.

1/25/2010 - URGENT EVENT NEWS - Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Quintiles Half Marathon, event organizers have increased the event capacity to 1,250 - an additional 250 entries. The increase in the event capacity does not affect the price increase date of February 1st. Please let your friends and family know that they can register for the inaugural event to set for March 21, 2010.

Wow- great news!  I bet they were able to add slots since the marathon isn't anywhere near to filling up.
