Why are there two "official" threads?  Looks like MODs could combine.

didn't know there was another thread either.  Be nice if there was 2012 thread.

Kicked off my first week of training for this race on vacation Sunday.....have managed to get the workouts in though.  Kicked it off with a decent 10 mile run.  2.5km swim yesterday and an hour on the spin bike (had to resort to this).   Bad part....another week next week on a cruise.  Doing what I can in the morning.....drinking beer in the afternoon.  Probably not the best plan.

I'm officially registered for the race.  I held out for a while but it is too hard not to do it when I live in Augusta.  This will be year #3 for me.

I'm in!  FB = B. Maria Driscoll

I'm not crazy about having this long old thread either, but might be beneficial to look back through it to see what others have posted for previous years.

This will be my 4th HIM.  My biggest concern right now is my crank set/cassette.  I have a small bike with 650 wheels w/ a standard crank set and an 11/23 cassette.  While it is great for flats, I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it on hills.  I'm debating if I should buy a new cassette with lower gears.  I guess I need to get this bike out to some hills to test it out first.

I also just signed up for facebook.  Good idea!  This will be #3 for me.  I mised last year due to an injury - bummer.  I was  trying to do this one every year.  I still can't believe I am doing this!

Hey folks-thinking about pulling the trigger and doing Augusta.  Other than the host hotel anyone have any good suggestions on convenient/clean hotels? Thanks

I am staying at the Best Western on Center West Pkwy, Augusta.  It's just off of I-20. Then it's about a 7 minute drive to the Marriot -- to all of the activities.   This will be my 3rd time staying at this hotel.

Weather was awesome....it was my first HIM...beat my goal...my stretch goal...time by a bunch!  Everything appeared to go smoothly, could have used more ice and sponges on the run....they felt good.  Volunteers awesome, lots of support...First Class event.  Had a blast and my training plan worked perfectly!!
