Sound Runner Madison Turkey Trot - Run5 Mile

Comments: I felt like garbage the few days leading up to the race so wasn't too optimistic. I started off with my wife and ended up losing her by accident because I got annoyed and ran through the grass for about a half mile to pass a bunch of people who think it's normal to run a 10min pace and start in the front. I immediately felt my shin muscles start to cramp which is what happens when I don't warm up properly and go out too hard. I just pushed through it and saw a ton of people I knew on the course since it is my hometown I grew up in. I probably could have dropped the hammer more on the last mile but I waited too long for the push. I did pass a bunch of people towards the end though who seemed to be coming back to me. All the miles were within a 10 second or so pace from one another...would have to check my logs from last week. Good race for me. I've come a long way this year from not really running at all to get to this point. What would you do differently?: stretch and warmup better. Post race
Warm down: saw some friends and talked. stretched for about 12 seconds. What limited your ability to perform faster: Too much upper body weight. More training. Last updated: 2009-10-01 12:00 AM

Drink coffee and a bunch of water after having a few beers with my brother in law the night before.
Jog around for 2 minutes and stretch with my wife.
