Veteran 148 | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread Hopefully everyone is settle in for the night. Man did you see the rides in the transition area? Some real nice machines out there today. Too bad I wont get to see any in action as I swim later and need to head over to the start. It would be easier to swim to the swim start rather than walk to the swim start. |

Extreme Veteran 546 Oakland, Florida | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread Back from the race. The swim killed me. I am not a good swimmer. I went off at 8:26. I swam 2/3 of the course Saturday and the sea was rough. Today when I started the sea was much better until I made the 2nd and 3rd turns. The 2nd turn was bad but the third turn was terrible for me. The waves and wind were kicking. Took me abour 50 total minutes mostly due to not be able to site and having to stop and get my bearing so often. I heard when I was packing my stuff up after the race they canceled a couple of swim waves. Can anybody confirm this? This was a good primer for my HIM in Disney in three weeks. I know I won't have to swim in the water that rough. I will say this was a great race. It was my first St Anthony's and I would do again. The bike and run course were solid. My bike was okay. My run was slow. I walked several times. I had taken my chip off to get the wetsuit off and took off without it in T1. Had to go all the way back and pick it up before I crossed under the time check out of transistion. I had a blast. I ran up on a guy who had a Beginnertriathle Tri Suit during the run. I think it was the last mile or so. He said he loved BT and it helped him get in shape. If you are reading this let me know who you were. I was wearing a red desoto tri suit and a white sun visor. Anyone have any stories? Edited by [email protected] 2010-04-25 3:33 PM |

Veteran 196 Parrish, Florida | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread Yeah, that swim was a little rough. I hadn't heard any swim waves got canceled, but did hear they shortened the swim course after wave 25. No idea though if that's the correct story. I did have a first....got offered a cigarette while on the run. I was running next to the "white trash" crew and one of the guys was carrying a cigarette in his hand during the run. He offered me one when they went by. It was a gag, I assume! Can't say whether he ever lit it, as I didn't stay with them. My run was not pretty! Interestingly enough those guys passed me on the bike as well, and they were riding in the most obvious draft line I've ever seen. I know a lot of people draft, but they weren't even hiding it. It was actually somewhat funny. I'd love to know how many penalty minutes they racked up. |

Champion 7704 Williamston, Michigan | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread They did shorten the swim but I don't know for how many waves. Kind of skews overall results. All the athenas and novices have swim times like 20 minutes. Wind was so stupid strong.............. |

Extreme Veteran 591 New Port Richey, FL | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread I was more unhappy with the wind on the bike than on the swim. It was tough after coming around the buoy, but I thought not really bad enough to be anything more than decidedly unpleasant. Sighting from the buoys was impossible, but the Parkshore Plaza condo is exactly on the line from the last turn to the exit stairs. I swam my best line of the day in that section simply by sighting off of it while I watched people zig-zag all over the place in front of me. Sorry I was unable to make the practice swim or Carabba's on time. I had to go back to my house after leaving (lets just say more than once) and I was running about 90 minutes behind the rest of the day. |

Member 36 | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread Great race, I was fine most of the swim, but over shot the return buoy line on the last third. It was difficult to stay on line to the stairs, I think I swam half-way to Tampa first. I didn't get the Team White Trash thing 'till the run, when I saw the guy running the entire course with his helmet on. Craig Alexander is a little fellow, Matty Read is not. I got much more sun than I thought I did. Black beans and rice, pizza and beer hit the spot, whole race was really very well organized and moved right along without a hitch considering the number of participants. Course map had shuttles from the parking area on it, but I didn't see them, I probably walked an extra 10k by the time I put my bike away and walked back to see the pro awards. The racer in from of me wrecked his bike, full blown endo, at the dismount line, though he managed not to land on his face, it still got my attention. A buddy told me of another bad wreck in the later waves. There was not as much pace booty as I would have hoped. |

But there are many wearing standard LG bottoms that could turn it up a notch without it becoming Hooters I'm willing to bet many female triathletes would welcome the Tri Pace Booty line of apparel from TYR coming this Fall. I know I would. |

Veteran 137 Lakeland, FL | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread I think the last 8 swim waves were shortened to 1000 meters, none were cancelled. We swam out to the first buoy at the end of the pier, then made a hard left straight to the finish. Had a great time at the race and thought it was well organized. The wind made portions of the bike difficult and I cramped up on the run - but had a blast. |

Extreme Veteran 591 New Port Richey, FL | Subject: RE: St. Anthony's Triathlon : Official Thread I imported the records into Excel to do some more sorting (transition times, etc). When I sorted by bike time, I saw another BTer right there. Olman, we had the same time (to the second).
Also, I'd like to see the slow, painful death of the person who decided to make Excel automatically turn numbers listed at minutes:seconds in to a date, such that when the number 27:01 is typed in as a swim time, it is automatically interpreted as 3:01 AM on January 1, 1900. |

Took about 45 mins to move the buoys. Dad said it was pretty rough out there. The wind was odd. before sunrise it was windy and choppy. After the sun came up it stopped and the water got dead flat. After about 10-12 waves however the wind picked back up. |

That's awesome man - I kept looking around for BTers but I am really bad with all that stuff. I need to see something clearly defined like a BT poster board or else I am lost. next time! |
