I heard a rumor tonight--Josh is planning on gathering together other mentors to try and control this un-ruly crowd.  Time to hear that famous quote by one member of our group!!   "Get On Your Bikes And Ride"

Breakfast of Champions--what to you eat to fuel your exercises in the morning.  I usually grab a large bowl of Cheerios, Blue Berry Yogurt and if a can manage I toss in a banana (hate the damn things but know they are of good source of Potas)  Everyone must have their personal favorites-it's what gets you moving in the am hours.

I can't eat in the morning before I workout.  As long as you are keeping the workouts around an hour or so, a gel and an energy drink should be good.  I don't know how people eat and go and run.  I can have a protein bar or like a pb&j sandwich before I bike.  Kudos to you if you can keep that stuff down while you exercise.

I agree with Josh.  i am usually up at 4:30AM and just can't eat at that hour.  However....I am working with a nutritionist who insists that I get something in prior to a workout so I have been doing 1/2 protein shake this week.   Its actually not too bad.   At least it doesn't sit like a rock in my stomach and make me queasy! Oh and BCAA's.   Now post workout.....veggie omelet and 1 waffle with fruit  and more BCAA's

So, I have read on 3 people's blogs this morning that they are quitting triathlons.  People who I thought were really committed to this sport.  Quite a change of heart for someone who offered to carry me across the finish line last week.  I hope you reconsider.

So if you read Ron's note at the top of the Mentor forum, the program has officially ended. I am not going anywhere and will keep posting here until I am posting to myself.  For those of you going moving on, which I hope you don't, thank you for your participation and make sure you stay in touch.  For those sticking around, you get to hear me and moan about my injuries.  My plan is to just open this group up for new members durning the next mentor program.  No need to start a whole new group.  The existing members can be co-mentors.  I will keep you posted.  Next time we will expand outside the Boston area.

I WILL NEVER LEAVE!!!  Have enjoyed this way to much and especially the people that I've been in contact with.  Have found besides working, running a household/family and training there has always been to time to visit our group.  Just need to either get up a little earlier or stay up later--it only makes you stronger!

You are a little too gullible.  I told you there were 3 people announcing their retirement today.  Not a coincidence.  I was going to be a little more snarky, but I figured just in case...

I guess I don't really understand why the mentor program would close just as people were about to start racing.  Whatever, we can keep chatting "unofficially."

KidIcarus, I wrote a big long post and then my computer started updating and I lost it.  Now I'm glad!  I only like April Fools if I am the one dishing, not receiving.

Lastly, lest anyone thinks I wimped out (I wouldn't dare after seeing gobluedds suffer through and be tough) my niece is getting married the day of my race.  So I have to bow out and do my familial duty.  The fact that I JUST realized the conflict doesn't say much for my stellar calendaring skills.

eta: in my defense, I did just get the invite last week, even though I heard April 9th awhile back.

Alana, the idea of the groups originaly was to find a way to get new people on BT active with the people who have already been here for awhile. I think the idea of the time limit was to give the mentors a chance to work with others if they wanted, or walk away from the mentor program if it was not working out for them. I was a mentor in the first mentor program. I was by no way as active as Josh and it I do not think it worked out all that well for our group. My heart was in the right place, but I found I was better off with one or two people to check in on or to lurk, kind of like on this group.

I do agree that continuing with a good fit into the race season is a great idea, so just keep going
