Wildflower is 20 weeks out. Training starts tomorrow morning using the 1/2 Ironman Training program on BT. Anybody else gearing up for WF?

I'm still in off-season mode right now, but I'll be at Wildflower.  I'm planning on doing the half this year after having done the oly the past 2 years.

Froglegs, I am following up on the 650 thread -- your small gear (42/25) seems awfully big for Nasty Grade (at least for me) and Beach Hill.  In general, how steep a hill can you get up on that?  I'm asking b/c I'm shopping for my new bike this week, and the main bike I'm looking at comes equipped with a 53/42 + 12-23 combo (I know I can't get up Nasty easily with that) & so will need to do some adjustment.

I'm in

Hubby will be doing the Oly, I'm doing the HIM. Really looking forward to it, last year was my first time there and it was awesome! Except this year I know what I'm in for

I'm not really following a specific training plan yet. I'm just coming off IMAZ and am just kind of winging it just now. I'll be doing a marathon (or possibly just the half) in Feb then will do some more HIM specific training and bricks leading up to Wildflower

Long course, 4th time. For you WF first-timers, you will love it. The whole experience is like no other tri.

I did the Olympic course last year as my 2nd tri and first Olympic. I loved it! This year I'm signed up for the Long course.

I'd be training right now but I tore a calf muscle in Oct. and I'm still fighting that. I hope to be  healed by Jan. though.

Dudes I am planning on doing Wildflower 1/2 Iron.  I am so behind on training.  i.e. I just really decided to start today.  Went into a two month depression that kicked my royal (now fat) butt.  Still went to the gym most of the time - but nothing like I was supposed to be doing.

Some people in my life were bringing me down - saying that I trained too much all of the time.  BUT training gives this girl a purpose in life and something to focus on.  Plus people say it's inspiring to see, so I'm back.

Did Wildflower Oly last year.  It completely rocks!!!!!! Wildflower is the best.  Wheeee..  Plan to spin three hours tomorrow thinking about that nasty grade, and yes I think I need a trainer (snow on the ground here.)  Since I have never gotten one before, ought to be fun.

What 1/2 Ironman BT plan are you guys talking about? i.e. which one?

Merry Christmas to those of you celebrating it!

It's more like, I gained 15 pounds during the last two months of severe depression.  Strange thing - in October I decided to stop being so silly just wasting time doing triathlon and needed to do more serious things in life - like just concentrating on grad school.  And then proceeded to slip into a depression.

Turns out just focusing on serious things in life is not such a great idea after all.

:-)

So three hours of spin needed:  1) for weight loss and  2) thinking about those four hours on the bike....

I wish you well.

It really is a fantastic time. The camping out/Woodstocky environment is super awesome.  It is like nothing else... :-)
