Comments: started out faster, but the group in front of me just took off. within a quarter mile there were 10 guys sitting about 100m ahead of me. by mile 1 it was down to about 100 feet. came through the first mile in 5:28 (had a guy there giving splits). the uphills did pay off in that i was able to use them to catch up with the lead group which began falling apart. by mile 2 it was me, and 3 other guys trading places. with a half mile to go things spread out a bit, 1st place was about 15 feet in front of me, 3rd about the same behind, and none of us were able to move on anyone else. the lawst half mile was all uphill. What would you do differently?: not much. i felt happy with my pacing, i dont think i could have held on going out any faster, and the body went well. more running i guess!  Post race

got in just over 3 miles of warmup total spread over about 50 min. I would head out and do a half mile or so, come back in out of the rain, and repeat.
strides and a bit of pace running right before the start.
