Subject: RE: New Orleans Running Routes I don't know of a Marriott on Bourbon. There is a JW Marriott at Canal and St. Charles, but that's a block off of Bourbon. My favorite run from the French Quarter is to follow the streetcar tracks down St. Charles to Audubon Park, run around the jogging trail there, then back. That's closer to 12 miles, but you could go one way and take the street car back from the Park. A shorter run would be Bourbon/Carondelet to Poydras, take a left and go to the river at the Aquarium. From there you can run left along the river (Woldenberg Park ) all the way to Esplanade. If you take a left on Bourbon from Esplanade to go back to your hotel, it would be a little over 2 miles. To add distance, you can go up Esplanade as far as you want, then turn around back to Bourbon. The whole length of Espalanade is a major stretch of the Crescent City 10K. You do have to be safety conscious, but if you stay in well-traveled touristy areas in daylight you should be OK. |
