ScoopJackson - 2010-01-02 10:17 PM Sorry, I just find it a bit obnoxious for someone to start a thread basically saying, "Is anyone else in the top 3.3% of AG? If not, what % are you?"

People start threads like that all the time. "What was your longest run", "What were your monthly totals", etc. I see it more as someone saying "Hey, the rankings are up. I did OK. If you wanna check yours, go ahead". One thing I really like about this forum is that there is such a wide range of athletes and none get ridiculed or belittled (well, usually), opinions are respected and information, happiness and pain is shared. I don't think this thread was started as an attempt by anyone to be obnoxious at all.

Ok. You make a valid argument and perhaps I should spend more time in this particular forum. My apologies if I jumped the gun.

I did the same. even though they call these final rankngs, they're still in flux as Bryan said. I tried to access them on the 30th, prior to this thread, and the message I got was that they would be updated over the weekend and not available until 1/4. Looks like they got them somewhat in shape and made them accessible.

Ah, I was wondering what was going on when the "final rankings" still didn't have my results from Longhorn 70.3. I've been counting on it to vault me over a couple of guys in my Age Group and state...

I just finished my second year of my return to Triathlons after 20 year away from the sport.  I battled my way back in two short years of VERY hard training.  Two years ago I could only run 10 min miles, swim 3:08 100yds and bike 15 mph at distance.  My logs speak for themselves.

I found BT as I felt I was just starting out new again even though I had 5 years experience in the 80’ racing tri’s.  Well USAT rankings did not concern me much at first but drove me to do better and be more competitive.

I feel this is relative to the post because if we are competitive or not, being ranked is a way to gage what we have done.  I once raced a guy in a criterium race with only one leg.  That was motivation and inspiration.  So can be ranked.

Tasr;

Since the rankings shown are not really the final rankings, everyone's results should be available as you've seen all year. The search function has been changed, USAT is trying to get that fixed as well. Once the "real" final rankings are listed, only those  athletes with three or more sanctioned races (where the RD submitted the results to USAT) will be included in those rankings. USAT acknowledged that first, these aren't the Final rankings, that was a mistake by the outside contractor who is handling the rankings and second they acknowledged that they don't have all the races added into that database yet. Even USAT races (Age Group Nationals) are missing.  People who are familiar with the rankings from last year said that the Final rankings didn't come out until February.
