Comments: My race was split into two 45+ riders because of the overwhelming turnout, I was in the second group and after about fifteen minutes managed to move into the first group, I was riding with a group of fifteen or 20 riders and we were working twards the front after each turn. With 5 or six laps to finish I got bumped to the outside, solo into the wind I sprinted twards the front to find a gap, with no luck I just pushed my way in,I really burned myself out as the pace picked up and I now found myself struggling. The last lap everyone sprinted and I had nothing left!I finished ok but man things changed fast, the whole race I was picking off positions only to get spit out with five to go! Last lap speed was 30.65 mph into the wind. What would you do differently?: Hold position, ride with teamates. Post race
Warm down: Easy pedaling around course for 20 min. What limited your ability to perform faster: Power management, position, experience. Event comments: This is the first of a five part series, I hope to do all. Very well organized. Gotta love the $15 entry, I can do a ton of these compared to the cost of one Triathlon. It sure is a change of pace from doing tris, not as much focused training and not as exhausted post race. Last updated: 2009-09-16 12:00 AM
