I took my starting P90X pics on Friday.  Here's one of them.  In the P90X guide they ask you to take a bunch of different angles and poses.  I guess this is my "body-builder" pose.

Friday check-in. How is everyone doing? I had a great week and I did it by logging my food daily. It kept me from eating huge portions. Photos will be up tomorrow--work is killing me so not much time to get them up today.

Official weigh-in day was yesterday...up a shade from last week, but I felt a bit bloated.

Weighed myself this morning and was under 170 for the first time in my history! Ok, I did pass through 170 at one point on the way up, but first time back under it!

We'll see if it sticks though...I'm kinda hovering at the moment, so it could be back up close to 171 next week...

I'll take some pics in a couple of weeks once there's a possible difference...

Congrats on going below 170!!!! That is awesome. What is your overall goal beside being healthy?

I'll play. I have never done dedicated "Before and After" pics, but I think these two tell the story pretty well.

Green shirt: 8k race in May 2009. 230-ish pounds and running about 9:00 miles.

Blue shirt: Carlsbad Half Marathon, Jan 24, 2010. 213 pounds and running about 8:00 miles. I know I still have some work to do, but I'm very happy with how far I've come so far this year and I can't wait to see what the next year has in store.

Still plan on playing/getting a photo... I better do it soon it's been a bad week for weight. Maybe having the threat of successive after pictures is enough to get me to behave. Well that and IM training starting in a few weeks! woot!

Are you doing Liz's group at Well-Fit?

Yep! It's starting tomorrow too. Eep.

Great Job Iowagander!  hard to believe that a 17lb loss improves your pace by 1min/mile.  That is GREAT!

I encourage everyone to have a body fat test done.  It was fascinating.  My results are almost too good to be true.  I'd like to compare these to other types of BF tests.

Still no new photos....I'm getting lazy (or just busy?).

February Photos--As promised here are new photos for February.  I keep weekly photos in my blog for reference.  Progress is good.  I weighed in at under 180lbs for the first time since 2006!  179.4lbs this morning!  NO bedhead comments please!  I need a haircut!

After one week injured on my right knee...I attach my VO2 Max and body scan reports, just one week ago, still 24% fat...quite a lot!

    Test Results:

    Aerobic Threshold (beats/min)

    156

    Lactate Threshold (beats/min)

    164

    Maximum Heart Rate (beats/min)

    184

    Blood Lactate at Maximum (mmol/L)

    8.8

    Speed at Maximum (km/h +gradient)

    18 km/h @ 1%

    VO

    2 max (L/min)

    4.94

    VO

    2 max (ml/kg/min)

    47.9

    Maximum Ventilation (L/min)

    156.5

The blood lactate threshold level occurs at a relative heart rate of

164 beats/min. Training around this point will help to shift this threshold to a higher workload as your body adapts to tolerate higher levels of lactate. Training above this level produces more blood lactate than can be sufficiently cleared, ultimately contributing to fatigue and the inability to continue for long periods of time. However, depending on your objectives, you will need to spend a small portion of your training efforts on higher intensity work in the 180+ heart rate zone in order to increase your speed through interval training.

    Training Description:

    Duration:

    Heart Rate:

    Recovery runs

    30mins

    <156

    Long endurance

    1-3hrs

    156

    Aerobic capacity/tempo

    60-90mins

    156-164

Interval training – long intervals; up-tempo

    Up to 10 mins

    164-180

Interval training – short intervals; up-tempo

    <5 mins

    >180+

    Friday Check In.

Travelled this week so diet was a wreck!  I was active 5.5 hours though which should help.  Photos tomorrow.  I don't think the people I'm with in the airport want to see me almost naked taking pictures of myself.

    ok.

I am restarting, so I guess I am at the "before" stage.   I will go take a photo.   I might not post it until I have another "after", but it will be in existance for when I can post the two.

I have been slacking on nutrition the past week or so.  For some reason I have my IM appetite WITHOUT the IM volume....that's NOT a good thing.  I need to get back on my water consumption I know that has something to do with it.

We all need to consider renewing our commitments to our goals especially if yo uare a scorpio like me.  Check out the scopio horoscope for Monday, March 29, 2010:

You're considering your health and the condition of your body -- in a nutshell, your appearance. And you know what that means: You're thinking of looking good for someone special -- and you want to make quite the grand entrance. Well, there's really no better time to recommit yourself to those New Year's resolutions. After all, you were far too busy to stay committed a couple of months ago.
