Run
Comments: Felt great during the race. Despite the highish heart rates, I feel like I paced myself well. Was able to hold a consistent pace for the entire race. Hydration and electrolyte replacement seems to have been right-on. I took approximately 2 endurolyte capsules every 30 minutes. Drank slightly less than two bottles of water during the event. I carried a bottle to supplement during the long distances between some of the aid stations. I also took-in two GU packs during the race. All in all, it felt just right...Not bloated and not needing more. What would you do differently?: Train more for hills. Post race
Warm down: Not much of a concerted warm-down... just walked around the expo. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training... everything went as well as expected, given my training. Need to train more on hills and do some speed work. Event comments: Xterra Races are very well run. I've heard others complain that the aid stations were not exactly where they said they would be... they were pretty close. I must say that in a trail race like this, running through wilderness areas with limited to no access for vehicles... you need to be prepared for anything. I especially like these Xterra events because they are real runner's events, not your typical chamber of commerce 10k. If pressed to knit-pick, I'd say that the mile markers seemed to be pretty far off the mark. Last updated: 2010-01-11 12:00 AM
