Subject: Tuscon Arizona Training
I live in Montreal Quebec and I would like to spend 2 weeks in the Tuscon area in the month of March and warm up these old bones and train. Does anyone have information, contacts or suggestions for accommodations, riding information and pool information. I would be coming with my wife and 18 month old daughter so dumping them in a university dorm is not ideal - if I expect to live. I require a nice clean comfortable , one or 2 bedroom condo for at least 2 weeks.

As well I would be looking for a training partner that can workout in the early part of the day so I can spend the remainder being a tourist and father.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Ron

March would be perfect, because TRIFEST is going on in early March: http://shop.trisports.com/trifest.html#home

It's a tri conference with a ton of group workouts planned.

You must go to TriSports.com. The retail store is right here in Tucson: http://shop.trisports.com/location.html

They have a lot of group ride and run workouts. Check their calendar. They can also hook you up on the training partner because they know almost all of the triathletes in town.

Hot spots for training:

Sabino Canyon for running (road and trails): http://www.sabinocanyon.com/  ,  http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coronado/forest/recreation/camping/sites/sabino.shtml

Mt. Lemmon for road riding (26 miles up a mountain) and trails. Catalina Highway is the road that goes up the mountain:  http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coronado/forest/recreation/scenic_drives/catalina_hwy.shtml

GABA is the biking group that has a lot of rides. Check their event calendar for more info: http://www.bikegaba.org/

Here's the Tucson Bike Map with color codes of the roads and bike routes: http://www.pagnet.org/Default.aspx?tabid=106

For swimming, here are the city pools. Only 4 are open right now and in March: http://www.tucsonaz.gov/parksandrec/aquatics.php

For vacation rentals, check Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO): http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/arizona/tucson-area/tucson

Hope this helps!
