Comments: Felt good through mile 8. Right knee started to hurt and I had to start to walk every mile for about 1-2 minutes each mile. This was disappointing as the weeks prior to the race, I had run 13 mile 3 times with no knee issues at all! Right hamstring hurt also. Leading up to the race I had been working with weights and stretching the IT band, which I thought took care of my knee issue. Week prior to the race I got a head cold which I think lead into the knee issue as I did not get one last long run in the week before and not much exercise at all the week of. Overall, I felt very strong through mile 8 and was on par for a PR. Oh well!! Still had a lot of fun. What would you do differently?: Try not to get sick.. Wife gave me the cold, which she had 21 weeks prior to the race. Post race
Warm down: Felt good after the race. No knee pain at all while walking. Had a banana and a energy bar at the finish line which gave me some serious stomach issues for the next 8 hours. What limited your ability to perform faster: Knee issues. IT band. Event comments: Good race. Third year running. Last updated: 2009-08-08 12:00 AM

Alarm set for 4:30 am. Woke up at 2:30 am. Bowl of oatmeal. Felt good prior to race. About 5 hours sleep. Could of used that other 2 hours of sleep.
Few stretches, bathroom break. Normal pre-run routine.
