Subject: RE: Clipless Pedals Pedals range widely in price and quality. Much of it depends on how comfortable you feel on the platform of the pedals. Some are small and round like a silver dollar. Others, and what I prefer are a little wider and longer, about the size of a credit card. I ride with Shimano pedals, I'm not near my bike at the moment so I can't recall the model. It's not the Dura Ace though. They were close to $100.00 and do the job. As I'm sure you know pedals can triple in that price. I believe Shimano is a very reliable product. I've never had a problem with mine, like the cleat releasing from the platform when I didn't want it to, which could be a tragedy in the making. I keep them clean, my cleat and the pedal itself. I like to use a product called White Lightning, which I also use on my drive train, cables and pretty much all pivot points. Good luck and buy what you are comfortable with and can afford.
