Anyone ever do this? I figure that since I have a cabin on big pine lake, I should probably do it just, well, because it is there, but I want to know if there is anything I should know before the race. The roads up there are actually ok for biking, and the course is super-short.

Anyhow, if you've done it, chime in please...

I've done it! I enjoyed it! I will probably do it this year.

Don't expect the best transition area or a ton of volunteers.

The course is wonderful, scenic and fast.

That is what I like to hear. The swim is in Little Pine, right?

I have not done any racing since IMOO, and this is about 3 miles from my cabin, so I figured I should get off my and do it.

Thanks for the info.

One could walk the swim, and I am told that some do. The swim course is never accurately measured. I have a race report on here somewhere.

This was my first tri ever. It's a fun race. The swim was short and I think some people may have walked it. It's a nice low key race.

They had pizza for the post race meal, so that was a plus.

I wouldn't disagree with what Dave and Scott said.  I enjoyed the race quite a bit when I did it a couple years ago.  One thing to watch out for is that the road into the park is gravel, and I know a few people went down either leaving or coming back into the transition area.  The route isn't particularly hard.  The steep little hill coming in to the finish is kind of mean when your legs are tired.

It's nice than Zorbaz is so close, but I think a lot of people head there so if you don't want to wait the Zorbaz in DL is probably better for a post race beer and pizza.

Yeah, it's a little and casual race, but pound for pound, it was one of the more enjoyable races I've done.

Well, the race falls on one of my weekends off, so it is a go.

I had forgotten about Zorba's being right there. We'll likely do post-race feasting back at the cabin on Big Pine though.
