So I want to encourage those who are not participating directly on a bike to come cheer folks on who are!  It is a really fun event - as it takes place ON the brewery floor  - and yes beer is allowed ;-)

I am in the 8PM heat - the one right before the pro men - so come cheer, drink and have fun!!!

and yes I am looking for protexia against the evil that may lurk in the same heat as me....

I'm in, and psyched!  This is literally the first event, of any kind, that I had ever 'raced' in my life...prior to that it was just sports.  I'm very interested to see what kind of time/watt improvement I'll have over last year.

Oh, and the beer ain't bad either!

I'm in too!  Should be a fun event but I have no idea what to expect.  Being a newbie to this whole concept of computrainers...anyone have a quick breakdown of how this whole thing works?

I've used a computrainer for a spin class at FastSplits but we weren't hooked up to a course so we just adjusted watts to supplement for shifting gears.  Not sure what to expect and how the whole programmed course aspect plays into the whole scenario.  Any advice?  Do you shift and adjust watts?  Just shift?  Just adjust watts?

Thanks,
- Confused ITT Newbie

The difference is the computrainer will be changing the watts by what the course has - it gets harder and easier to pedal.  The course and riders will be projected so you can see where you are on the course and where you stand in relation to others.

and they just announced the course - the last 8 miles of B2B.....

will have to look that up - as they said - it is NOT flat.....

what heat are you in??

That's the same course as last year.  As you might remember, it's got some little rollers but no serious inclines until after mile 6 where it goes straight up into the clouds for nearly a mile.  Made me want to shed a tear thinking of those poor folks who got to that hill after riding 100+ miles there.  Kind of brutal hill going up it (at least to me -- I'm awful at hills), but you've got the drop back down from the top so you can seriously crank it going down to the finish at warp speed.

That was fun - wish I could do it again this year.

oooohhhh yeah.....

then I should be glad that at last nights bike class we did so much hill climbing, including 6 repeats of stand for 2 minutes sit for 3.....

146...and my right knee could feel every last one of them for months afterward .

My only advice (other than what I posted in the main Triathlon forum about this same subject): leave a little in the tank for the climb.  It's simple to redline it for 20 minutes, only to hit the hill and just have nothing left.  5 mph for that climbing mile ain't gonna get you on any podiums and you feel like you're not even moving...trust me, I had this exact experience last year.

Anyway, pretty psyched for this Saturday.

Great advice. ^^^^  I died a little at that hill because I went all out in the first 5 miles trying to keep up with the speed demons.  When I hit the incline I recall looking down at my HRM and thinking that it was broken!  (Sadly, it was not.)  I was waiting for it to explode like the mercury in a thermometer in a Buggs Bunny cartoon.  Meanwhile, low single digits on the speed.

If you save a little, it won't be nearly as humbling.  But, either way, there's an IPA at the bottom of that hill!

Good luck folks!

Just signed up!  I've never done a time trial before so this should be interesting.  Going in the pro heat may not be ideal for my first one, but hopefully I'll hold my own.

I'm going to pick/setup my new (well used but new to me) power meter from a friend today so I figure this should be a great chance for me to see what kind of wattage I'm capable of.

Looking forward to it
