Looked at the bike route elevation profile.....the section from mile 18 to 20 looks like a mother!

I'm not racing but will be volunteering at the T1 getting a feel for how it all works before my TRI a few weeks later! I'll be cheering for you!

Does anyone know the water temp yet?  We are training outside Albany and hoping our lake is about the same temp (right around 58 now)!

I don't know about Newfound, but lake Winny is about 50 degrees already.  That's 3-4 degrees warmer than normal.

RandyM,  Hi, I was wondering where one would find the bike elevation profile?  My first Olym tri and I'm stressing about riding the hills of NH.  Thanks, Marie

Here ya go!  Remember to look at the scale.  Big hill, but not too too bad.

That's still a big climb (for me), also need to save something for run! The scale doesn't look too bad, wish I could have ridden before the race but my niece moved to VA 2 months ago!

That hill is not steep. Its just a long slow-grind type of hill.

Rode the course this past weekend. Great scenic ride. Lots of head wind from the lake. Leaving the park isn’t bad great rolling hills. When you get to the sharp R turn around the top of the lake get ready for the hills.. My riding partner called it Devils hill.. It's not that long just steep.. a few more good long moderately steep hills to follow. I only remember a couple of real fast (time to rest) downhill’s.

Are these steep hills the descent or climb? How was the climb from mile 15 to 20?

That elevation chart is really deceiving. The really steep hill in the Olympic distance is right before mile 5, aka Devil's Hill. Its short, but the steepest on the course. The hill from miles 15-20 looks like a monster, but is really a long slow gradual climb where you will just grind it out in your easier gears. Also, its not one singular hill. Its a combination of ups over a few different roads.

I know it's late, but any suggestions where to stay? Camping at the park?

I wouldn't say it's close by (~30 miles north of the park) but I'm staying at Moose Hillock campground in Warren, NH.  I have 3 small children so it's a great place for the family.

Mooseman volunteer director Ronda Fernald is still looking for a few volunteers for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She is looking for packet pick-up(Friday 11:30-4 & 4-8) and lead bikers (one for saturday from 7AM-11AM & THREE for Sunday 8AM-12PM) If interested, please email her at: [email protected].   This event cannot go on the way it does without volunteers.  Any help would be awesome!

Chances are getting smaller I'm going to make this race. First my niece moved, then her brother decided not to make the race. So the idea of a 7 hour drive on Friday, hotel Friday night and drive back for 7 hours solo after the race just doesn't make sense. Too bad, training has been going real well.....have until Thursday afternoon to cancel room.....

Can't wait for Saturday, my (and my wife's) first ever OLY.   Has anyone been in the lake?  How are the temps?
