My friend Trevor is looking to get into triathlons. He's got 2 little kids and is on a budget. Anyone have (or know of someone who has) a $300-$400 entry-level 62" road bike? Trevor lives out just west of MPLS and is hoping to get a local deal. Anyone?...

Thanks!

Not specifically, but my husband has bought and rebuilt a ton of bikes in that size range.   He buys from Craigslist, picks them up at garage sales, etc. and then collects and buys parts online.  If your friend isn't mechanically inclined, he could buy from Craigslist and then take it to a bike shop for a tune-up and a few new things like tires.

I have a 2009 Schwinn Fastback might have 300-400 miles on it. Bought it last spring used it for training and one tri. Then couldn't resist and bought a tri bike I'm hooked. Was going to list it this spring for $450.00 or so. Might be able to work something out if he is interested. Nice bike has some good reviews for an entry level bike. I live west of Monticello, so probably not too far away. You can fire me an email if you would like more info [email protected]

Thanks you 2! I forwarded this info onto him.

Bikergrrrl, he's pretty mechanically inclined, so he might like the Craigslist idea.

And TRIHEART, I sent him your info, so you might be getting an email from someone named Trevor who might have more questions about your bike.

Thanks again!!
