Depends how sick I am.  I have a cold now but it's not stopping me.  Coughing and a little stuffy...If it was a full blown sinus infection maybe I'd take a day or two off.  I usually don't skip a workout unless I'm really hurting though or feel like I need the extra hour or two of sleep more than I need my workout.

Same as others - head stuffy, I'll do something and sometimes it seems to actually help clear it up.

Fever/vomit/body aches - rest.

I seem to have a perpetual head cold from around October to March, so I deal with it & workout.

Was hurting all over this morning & tried a swim workout. I'm glad I did something, but my arms felt dead & I wasn't impressed with my performance. I shoulda bailed.

If its a head cold (as opposed to something with a fever) I usually feel better after working out.

Funny, I just read an article (I think on BT or may be RW) about this.  Same advice as what was mentioned here.  Depending on the illness doing the workout could be beneficial.  Adjusting the volume of the workout according to how you feel is a good idea.  Currently I have a minor cold.  Still doing my workouts but most of them are only 30-45 minutes.  I would not do a 2 hr trainer ride with this cold.

I will try to find the link.

Depends on the kind of sick.

Head cold, I just do it.  It'll suck, but there's no reason not to.

Chest cold - no I wont do any cardio.  I usually will do weight training out of my house if I'm not that ill.  I don't want to make other people sick.

Digestive issues - heh.  no.

I rarely get ill.  I got a really bad chest cold this year though and it knocked me out for a couple of weeks.  It sucked.

So it seems I've caught the cold going around. I called work and told them I'm not coming in, I don't feel absolutely terrible but I don't want to get my coworkers sick. I feel like I could jump on the trainer for a short ride but I don't know if that's a bad idea and will lengthen my recovery time.

Do you train when you are mildly sick?

Well I rest if I feel bad.

If I just feel a little "off" I continue on training. If I feel bad while training, then I call it quits.

I was coming off a case of bronchitis and hitting the start day of my 20 week training plan.  I really did feel pretty good and I wanted to stick to the plan, and was anxious to get active again after being laid up for a couple of weeks.  I did two days in a row of hour plus workouts, swimming and the bike. (Cue the 'Price is Right' loser music here).  -The bronchitis came roaring back and knocked me even flatter than before.  End Result - I am now going to have to customize my 20 week plan into some sort of 17.5 week plan.

Adding to the advice - if its in your lungs, let it have its way with you, and only come back when you feel clear for more than just a couple of days.   -Smitny

I've had a head cold for the past three weeks and have been doing my normal workouts throughout, until Tuesday when it turned into a sinus/ear infection.  I feel guilty and lazy that I've missed my last three workouts but I can't hear, my face hurts and I've been dizzy due to the ear-thing.  I got some better antibiotics yesterday and have been resting resting up as I'm leaving for a week of skiing tomorrow  -  I hope the drugs work some magic soon!
