Subject: Forerunner 305 Quick Release bike mount....

Here are a few questions for people owning the Quick Release bike mount adaptator for the Forerunner 305 :

- Does the watch hold tight on the adaptator ? (I fear that if the bracket is gonna get loose, the watch would fall off...)
- It it worth it, or should I buy the standard bike mount instead ?
- Anything else ?

Thanks a lot,

Christian.

Not sure what the "standard bike mount is"

I have the quick release kit for the bike and then the velcro strap for my wrist. I know others have had the garmin launch off of it but I've had mine for well over a year with lots of use now and have never had any issues. I just make sure it's snapped in all the way and make sure the the pins don't look or feel weak. Garmin gives you extra one's in case they need to be replaced.

I love the convenience of going from bike to wrist both in racing and when training.

I have had my quick release for 7 months and it has worked flawlessly. Done several tris with it and on all my rides it is on my bars. Never once popped off. Cool

So far it has never popped off on the bike and only once while getting dressed while on my wrist (got caught in my sleeve while getting dressed an popped off).

Love it (and the QR for the wrist...much more comfy than the rubber band).

I, too, have never had a problem with my 305 not staying on the QR, on the bike or on the wristband.

I've had mine for 2 years and love it. Tight fit and I like the wristband better  that comes with it for the run than the standard one.

I wonder if those that have had them fall off mounted the quick release directly on the handlebar.  Mine is on a part with bar tape, which obviously helps with shock absorbtion and keeps it pretty secure.

I've got mine right on top of where the stem connects to the handlebars. I figure, keep the QR as close to the centerpoint as possible so as not to amplify the energy of uneven road surfaces. This has worked for me so far.

Thanks to all of you guys ! Very helpful information... I'll be looking for the QR Mount on Ebay as my LBS sells it for 90$, which I find expensive compared to the price I saw on Garmin Store...

/\/\ Right on, that's the kit I have.

Cadence sensor is nice as well. It's also a speed sensor which can be used indoors in lieu of GPS when on the trainer. I think it's a good addition, plus it's also wireless no ugly wires on your ride

Here is how I mounted my QR bracket, worked like a charm, never felt unstable or like it would release and I had some rough roads.  I would not trade it for anything.  The wrist strap alone is worth twice the price IMO.

Mounting QR for the 305

Thanks for this little piece of information. I was hesitant on buying the QR mount because the only room I had was on the stem, but after seeing your post I placed my order. I custom cut a piece of high density foam that I placed underneath the mount and the stem for some added shock absorbency and to be able to obtain a good viewing angle of the 305.

Why mount it on the bike? Why not strap it to your wrist, and then it is also in place for the run? What am I missing about this?

That is what I used to do, but it is hard to see while in the aero position. It is much easier to see when it is right in front of you.

I often wear my 305/310 on the inside of my wrist.  It does help when in the aero position making it easier to read, but I did find that clipping it in on the bike worked best when I had the 305.  So I would have to agree with clipping it in on the bike being easier.

This is how I have my 305 mounted with my aerobars. It's a simple black PVC pipe with 2 drilled holes and some zip ties that makes a bridge across for me to mount the 305 mount on. Works great for me.

Before that I used a Profile UCM XL (universal computer mount), like this one but honestly I had concerns about it's staying power as the plastic threads tended to slip on me.

I did find that if I wore it on the inside of my right wrist it was easier to view while riding, but not nearly as easy as it is to see now. On occasion, I would also accidentally hit the Start/Stop button with my aero bars while it was on the inside of my wrist so I didn't like that either.

Hey guys !

I bought it on Ebay for 22$ ! I really like the feeling of the wriststrap and the ajustment possibilities.. For now, the QR Mount is on my trainer.. Very helpful for indoors training and quick change from trainer to wrist, etc.

For the price, is it really worth it !

Thanks,
