A canoe tip over on Friday afternoon.  One guy got rescued but the other guy has not been found.

I was running this morning around the lake and saw all the Search and Rescue by the one boat dock and asked if it was a training, "nope, doing a recovery"said one of the S&Rs.

Sad stuff.   Not that big of a lake.  But the water temp is around 40 +

Body was recovered.  Think there will be alot of questions of why it happened?

Sorry to hear about that...especially as the lake has been on my mind in thinking about signing up for this year's Lake Padden triathlon.  Can't be too careful on the water no matter where it is.

I worked in the Seattle area as a Deputy Sheriff for a while. I had to respond to multiple canoe accidents where they tip over. Usually one of the two will turn up missing. Its a sad event, so most people should consider how dangerous conoes are without any training. Cold water and alcohol makes it all the more dangerous.

Be safe!

Yes. It is very sad indeed. Unfortunately, there is a vast underappreciation for the dangers involved in and around water. Dangers that with the proper equipment, use, and training would almost eliminate tragedies like this. We usually see several incidents a year but they seem to be more prevalent on the Bay with kayaks. I hope others learn from this.
