I really hope we get a storm at around 7 and have to delay for an hour. That should put me starting at around 10. That way the temp can really get cranked up so I won't have to wait for the run to overcook and blow up Rant over. Carry on.

Sure,
No littering except for 50 yards in front and behind aid stations.
No drafting ..if you get a yellow, you go into the next aid station and wait 4 minutes, second infraction is another 4
Drink water
There will not be rain
Watch for the fresh repairs on the roads and hold on when crossing them as some are not smooth.  The crew tries to mark all hazards
You will not get lost on the bike portion as they are clearly marked with arrows
The swim will allow booties if it is below 65 degrees
No walking in the water to advance on the main portion, you can swim in to where you can stand, but cannot advance.  Swim 90 degrees to the shore out if you want to continue.  If you want to swim in closer, no problem but make sure to swim
There is a long run/walk to the T1.
Your bike area cannot have the tub of water for your feet, they will have kiddie pools to run through
Have a good time.

Mark

I thought someone said the buoys were out for the swim?? I didn't see any. Am I to understand that there is no "aquajogging" allowed (for lack of a better term)?

Also, the bike in/out looks the same as it did last year. I thought that was going to be changed as well?

If you looked closely there were these tiny white buoys all along the course.  My guess is tomorrow the bigger buoys will be out as well.  They were about 200y off shore starting at Gould Street and ending at the far end of North Beach.

Today was incredibly exciting and a great experience overall.  The day didn't go as I planned, but I'll be the first to admit that I probably bit off more than I could chew with this challenge.

You see, I failed to make the swim cutoff... just 2.5 minutes short.  If I would have only swam 150 seconds faster, I would have be on track to become a half Ironman.  I took 76.5 minutes when I only had 74 minutes available to me.  I am 39, so I was one of the very last waves.  The funny thing is, that if I would have assigned to just 1 wave earlier I would have made it.  Oh well, things happen, and I'm not mad or angry.  While I am a bit disappointed, I choose not to dwell on it as this is a great learning opportunity for my son who is 3.5 years old.  I told him that I didn't make finish the swim in time and that daddy couldn't race any further.  I added that this is a learning opportunity, and I'm going to do what I've told him "if you fall off your bike, don't quit, get right back on and keep going".

So, Monday will be another training day and I plan to keep right on going.  Setting a good example benefits me just as much as it does him.

I'll look for my next race after I've had more time to digest everything.  I am enjoying the "lifestyle" of a triathlete and how much better I've treated my body.  Only good things can come to me by keeping this up.  Thanks to all of you for the info you provide here.

The tool to look at your results  http://ironmanlive.com/tracking.php?race=racine70.3&year=2010

My wife was able to volunteer at the event and said that this was a great way to wait for me and be flexible enough to be in transitions to take pictures ect. I encourage your significant others to consider this (if you dont have little kids to care for)  We even had full access to the VIP tent where none of the finishers were represented.  I even tried to drink a beer, but could not.

I understand that next year the bike course will change.  Hopefully it will be on decent roads.  I would be embarrassed if I was a county official for that road that goes through the north sided of downtown racine.  I have lived in third world countries, and the roads in the cities are not as poor as they are in Racine.  Overall a well run event.

Great job out there everyone. We had everything thrown at us by way of weather conditions and that heat added a bit of HTFU-itude to finishing the run.  I hope that the rest of your summer is provided with some well deserved pride and self-confidence.  Regarless of finishing, placing, or overall time we are all still attemping and doing what few even contimplate as possible.

Get out there with a swagger, you've earned it.

It was great meeting all of you and it really added a to a more meaningfull race knowing I had old and new acquaintances out there.  I hope I'm able to see many of you out at future events.

x3 . . . this was my first HIM, and I'm going to have to call it a learning experience.  I tried to hang on to a faster pace on the bike and legs started cramping up.  Wound up not being able to run more than about .3 miles at a time on the run.   Great overall experience.  Volunteers (official ones plus the residents with their spriklers and hoses) were awesome.  As much as my legs hurt and as frustrating as it was to hobble through the run, the esprit de corps on the run was awesome.  Comraderie among those of us who were just trying to get through, rooting for the people who were actually running . . . it was a great experience.

I am so jealous of all of you...I haven't been able to eat much...yet...but when I do...watch out!

Yes, yesterday was brutal...for those of you not on Facebook, I had a complete stomach blow up at mile 7...nothing would go down...water...powerade drink...orange slices...powergel...it all came back up...not vomitting per se, just made me want to throw up and gagging...and my stomach burned...did A LOT of walking...

Had a very strong bike (was avg. 18.8 before the storm hit, and knocked me down to a snails pace so I didn't blow off my bike when I was Rt. 20) so maybe that had something to do with it too...

All in all though, GREAT time with the BT peeps as usual...and I am so happy I finished!

GREAT job everyone!!!

Oh, and one other side note...they ran out of medals by the time I FINALLY got to the finish line...how lame is that???

ok, seriously...that is WAY LAME!!!  I mean, can they not count or did people really take more than 1 medal...either way, it's lame.

If you want mine, no prob...seriously, send me a PM and I can mail it to you.  You trained harder for it than I.

Aww, that's so sweet! No, they told us, after a certain time, they ran out, so anyone after that, they're being mailed.

But still...how do you not know how many people do your race?

this leads me to believe that some folks might have taken more than one...like for their kid or something.  WTC typically has their sh%t together on stuff like this.

Definitely.  The heat thru everyone a curve ball.  I hydrated like hell for days before and still couldnt get enough in me.  The people with the hoses were great.  The one guy on the corner around mile 1.5, all day out there with that hose......

And yeah, the comaraderie.  Everyone suffering, stories to tell...."where were you when the storm hit?"  Made the pain tolerable and the day even more fun.

Good job to all yesterday.

This was one of the toughest things I have ever done!  The volunteers were great as was the community out there with their hoses and cheering fans/donks out on the course! My quads seized up around mile 50 of the bike and did the death march/runners shuffle through the whole 13.1 miles. But I finished with a smile

Thay guy at mile 1.5 had just sprayed the guy runing behind me who gave the appropriate, "thank you soooo much" . . . when I heard him say it, I just started laughing, looked over my shoulder and said, "My kids did the same thing to me last weekend, and I yelled at them . . . isn't it funny how it's all a matter of context?"  Good times.
