I checked it out this weekend. Lake was warmish, green brown with about 1 foot visability. Bike has a pretty good uphill for the first mile, then rollers. Ends with an uphill. It's a pretty good ride. Run seems to be hilly, but the map was not really clear.

I haven't done it before, but I am registered. It's my second tri and first open water swim, so I'm a little nervous. The ride and run look pretty reasonable to me. I've only heard good things about the Tri-the-Parks series.

I'm also signed up for the tri at Richard Russell park in late July.

I tried to sign up (late) for Indian Sprinngs just after lunch today (Thursday) and it is already closed out. I don't remember this ever happening before for the 500 capacity "Tri the Parks" (TTP) races before.

I did the race last year and the lake was perfect, warm, fairly clear, and flat with no boat traffic or wind to stir it up. The swim timed out longer than any of the other 600 meter TTP races I've done before so the swim course was probably a little long.

There's a long steep uphill run to the T1 area and I remember sort of running to the back of it to enter. The transition area is setup on dirt instead of pavement so if it's rainy or wet it's bad. Exiting T1 there's a slight dirt downhill until the pavement and then a short distance to the mount up line which is downhill. They're several speed bumps to cross exiting the park on the bike and then a sharp right turn to a long steep uphill (check out the bike course profiles at the Tri Blue Sky website). After reaching that hilltop the ride is not too bad but slightly uphill to the turnaround. After the turnaround pylon the ride back is easier because its mostly downhill and then there's the big hill to go down and at the bottom of that hill there's a sharp left turn into the park that takes most of the hill speed away. The rest of the way is uphill toward the transition area and then the dismount is slightly uphill.

The run is out of the back of the transition area across a grassy field to a main road that goes through the camping area and in both of the two camping area loops there's a steep hill returning to the main road. Once back on the main road it's easy running to the finish.

Thanks JTee. I went out an rode the course today. They have repaved inside the park, so those roads weren't bad. That hill for the first mile out of the park is a doozy. A couple rough sections on the road. Saw a couple of deer in the road on my way back.

Swimmers report that the water was nice. I hope next Saturday was as nice as today was.

See you guys Saturday....can anyone from North ATL give me an idea on how long it takes to get down there? I live in Woodstock and I am planning to drive down the morning of the race.

Brett
