Comments: goal pace was 9:00 but felt good running 8:45. first mile was real fast. pushed real hard after mile marker 6 and passed 3-4 people I was pacing off. took in a GU gel at 4.5 mile with a few sips of water. What would you do differently?: need to learn to keep my pace more consistent but it helped to pace off a few people that helped me "push" beyond my goal but not to exhaustion. Post race
Warm down: dod some stretching changed shirts to something dry What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing Event comments: lots of community involvement. tihs is the 13th yr and was well attended. lots of prizes - even I won a prize. vendors were the right mix for this type of event: food, beer, others offering some nutritional snx. woke up 4:30 - stretched took in 1 Muscle Milk and some amminoacids, plus sipped on water the rest of the morning. Took in a Powerbar during the last 15 min before start. Stretched and met some of the people racing.
walked to race site then stretch, stretch and stretch. Did a couple of short runs to get blood flowing but not too much.
